T-Day Cruisers 2011, November 19-26th, 2011

2) The kids really are excited to do the door decorating. They are thinking a combination of Thanksgiving and sea animals. I know magnets are the prime means with some white poster board possibilities. Does anyone have any magnet experise or ideas?

John

John,

Here you go!

Here's a link to my photobucket and you will see different folders and will give you some ideas of some of the things I can make for magnets.

http://s168.photobucket.com/albums/u188/Scooby3x1y/

The easiest way to make them is to purchase magnetic paper at Staples or Walmart and just print them on the pages. Alternatively, you can just print them on cardstock or print them as a picture and put magnets on the back.

Here are a couple to get started. As soon as you let me know what their favorite characters or sports or likes are, I can incorporate them.

The easiest way to deal with FE's is Oriental Trading Company...our box should be arriving soon and it will go to the ship unopened...ok we may have picked up a few other odds and ends, but OTC is a quick fix.

Lisa and Chuck gave us the Oriental Trading Company tip several years ago and it has served us well. We are also working on a couple of personalized FE gifts that I hope everyone will enjoy.

I am putting together a copy of scavenger hunts/trivia for the kids to do on sea days. Lindsey and Mason had fun with these in the past, they are also fun for the whole family. It was a little funny because in a few cases the kids realized that they knew more about the Disney Magic than some of the crew members ( I wonder why)???

I will be posting a couple of DISigns for fun if anyone wants to use them. All are posted and shared with permission...

Has anyone started packing yet?:yay:

Thank you everyone. I appreciate the quick replies.

As a newby to the Dismeet and everything else, I was thinking a couple of things:

3) I am really trying to line up some meeting for the two kids (two 9 nine year olds 1 boy 1 girl) so they don't get too sick of their Dad/Uncle.

Thanks again to everyone. I look forward to the cruise.

John

John, my DD is 8 (and 1/2.. LOL) and I am sure would be thrilled to make a new friend on board. We will be at the 4:00 meet so hopefully we can connect there.

and after a discussion with DH, he will most definitely be wearing the tux twice. I think we figured he could wear the bowtie one night and his more traditional black tie the second night to mix things up. one less thing to pack....

finished up my FE gifts last night--now just need to bag and tag them! woohoo!

Yes, I have started packing, nothing major, just the dinner clothes for the girls that I know they won't be wearing before now and then.

Some of my FE gifts are giving me problems, so I am not finished with them. Hopefully in the next couple of days, then I can bag and tag them and forget about them (as long as I don't forget to pack them).:rotfl:

Our last cruise on the Dream, I bought a new slinky black dress for Remy, and got all the stuff to go with it, shoes, jewelry, etc. (ladies, you know what I am talking about). Well, the day of Remy, I am getting dressed for dinner, and guess what? I forgot to pack the dress!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:
What a bummer! I always pack myself last after the rest of the family, and I guess my brain wasn't working too well by then. So, this dress has yet to be worn, but I will for sure be packing it this time!!
Hope you had a good laugh, I am here for your entertainment!!:banana::banana:

LOL melody---my DH and I ALMOST had a major packing disaster on a trip to Aruba (before kids). We got to the airport and realized we had left the garment bag hanging on the back of the bedroom door.... it had all of our nicer stuff in it! luckily this was right after 9/11 and we had gotten to the airport (about 20 minutes from our house) 2 hours ahead of the flight so my DH had time to run all the way home and get back whew.

that woudl have been ONE EXPENSIVE trip if I had to buy all new stuff for the week!!!
needless to say these days we always do a bag count before leaving the house.

Melody:

Great story.. I have not worn a slinky black dress since 1981... May have to see what I can find for this trip... I also pack for the rest of my family and then at the last minute get my items together. I am a notorious over packer, but have vowed to cut down this trip.

I will make my annual trip to the Super Target this week to get a cart load of items, that I probably do not need.

Wendy

Packing...hmmm...we leave for the port Friday evening after work/school, and Lisa is taking the day off, so that means we will probably start packing the night before and finish the day we leave...as for overpacking and trips to Target, do not get me started...the one major limitation we have on packing is that it has to fit in the car...and given the miles we drive each year, we traded in the big SUV's for Camry Hybrids..which have smaller trunks due to the battery...so we have to get 3 people and the luggage in the car, usually with very little unused space to spare.

There is always the back seat. :rolleyes1 Mason only needs one seat, so there is plenty of room. Go Lisa go!

Good Monday Morning cruisers... The final weeks to get ready begin. We are trying to finish up those last projects at work and taking care of those final arrangements..

We are going to ship a box to the ship with our F/E items in it. We have done that before and it has worked really well..

Wendy

Wendy,

I'd asked about this earlier and didn't see a response. Can you tell me how you are shipping things? To what address? When should the box arrive?

Thanks!

Brandie

Well, between yours and mine their days should be filled. LOL

Formal wear for me and my DD is done - our dresses and shoes get their own suitcase.:cloud9: The boys are on their own. :rotfl: Just kidding. With the growth spurts this year for both of my boys, we are just doing shirts and ties for them on the more formal nights. I have a good idea of what to bring for everyone for the rest of the trip, but haven't yet laid out all of the clothes.

We'll see everyone on deck 10 after the "Mustard" drill as my kids still call it. My three will all be wearing their matching tie dye shirts.

We do use the backseat for luggage...it is the only way to fit it all in...but Mason has to be careful on sharp left turns, or it will be crashing down on him in the back right corner.

Chuck:cool1:

Final arrangements are made, we were able to get into the Hyatt Regency MCO which is great, since are flight arrives at 11:45 pm. The downside is we will not be to port as early as we thought to rush to see if we can get into Palo. Take our chances on waiting list and hope for some pixie dust.

DD is a little bummed, she is getting her braces two weeks early and will get them just a day or so before sailing... We will bring lots of Tylenol with us...

Hope everyone is getting excited, I am!!!

I am glad to get the info for youBoxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney

Our boxes have always been waiting on us

Hope this helps

Wendy

We will see what we can do Wendy when we board to make our dinner into 4 and score a brunch as well....we get boarding group 1 automatically as platinum.

Chuck:cool1:

No worries either.. We appreciate you and Lisa for trying.

Wendy we have a Palo Dinner (I forgot what night sorry) and 90% chance we will not use it so it is yours if we do not. I will know after the first night.

I also have High Tea that is for more than 2 and I may not do that either.
