sympathy card question

Card went in the mail today. I know my DH is still grumbling some scrooge like comments about me under his breath but I just felt much better about sending a card that actually took some time and thought as opposed to spending a fortune thru a florist.

Really I think you did the right thing. I just sent flowers for my DH's aunt's funeral since we could not attend. We called a local florist (local to the funeral home) that we knew instead of a national chain, ordered something very modest and it cost $100. I was shocked as it had been a long time since I sent flowers for anything. I don't want to seem petty - we did it because we wanted to, but it is a lot of money for someone you are not particularly close to and as others said, many families don't really care about the arrangements anyway.
