OK - It's all based on a tweet - but I do have to say StitchKingdom is more often right than not. Interesting as I always thought they would close this ride LAST after everything else is open. Maybe they figure the conversion to M&G is more complicated than I think, and also they want it opened at the same time as everything else.

At least we get one (or two) more rides on it in November before it closes for good. (Regardless of February or later in the year we wouldn't get another shot at it before closing.)

Discuss.

Hmmm,
Maybe they'll tear out Dumbo and SW at the same time safter all. I've been dieing to see pictures of the dual Dumbo to see if they are building both sides from the ground up or if they are going to rip out the old one and use it for the new one.
All the pictures just show the stupid building and not what they are doing on the ground. I wouldn't think they would close anything until they had a new attraction up but maybe they just want to get it done with?

Wow, this was not my favorite ride by any means, but I'm very surprised they will be closing this. I guess "the one who started it all" will be gone...

I agree.

It is always sad to see something close to make way for something new, unless its stitch or monsters inc.. I would like to think that it's going to be a nice improvement, but still.

Maybe they can use some of the leftover parts for DL's version, that ride could sure use a complete story and not just some weird ending.

I had also assumed it would be one of the last to go, but I guess on some level it makes sense -- maybe the new princess M&G area will open at around the same time as Mermaid/Beast's Castle, so the only thing we'll be waiting on is the coaster.

Snow White is a nice enough ride but I don't have any special attachment to it. It's not like they're getting rid of Toad Hall.

Oh, wait... nevermind.

Bingo they want that M&G open ASAP. Also Dumbo 1 and Barnstormer should be up by then with Dumbo 2 right behind it. That is more capacity than SWSA.

Does anyone know the plans for the current Princess area once the new one opens up?

There was a recent Disney press release that confirmed that the existing Dumbo will be refurbished and become part of double Dumbo. The latest aerial photos from earlier in the month show the foundation for the spinners under construction but they have not started installing the ride yet.

I am sorry to see any of the Classic Dark rides close. They remind me of my childhood.

So sad.

I was telling DD the other night that we have to ride SWSA this trip because it will be no more. She tells me she doesn't want to ride it, it's too scary. (She is 8.5 and the last time I think we rode it she was 4.5. which she was fine with it then.) So, looks like it won't be a severe trauma for our family.

Really I do agree with PP that every time a ride is closed its a little sad. However, of the rides that COULD close, this is probably one that we will miss the least. And I get why they don't want TWO Snow White themed rides...she isn't THAT popular.

LOL,
Only the highest grossing Disney film ever. Not to mention it has been a staple for Disney for over 70 years. I think that deserves two rides....

It also doesn't hurt that if it weren't for Snow White, it'd be highly unlikely that we would have the Disney Parks today.

(Snow White was the first of "Disney's Follies" that ended up paying off bigtime. No Snow White, no followup Full Length Animated Classics from Disney. No Snow White, and it's also unlikely that Disney would've had either the money, or trust to risk everything on his other "Disney's Follies" to come, such as building a theme park in California.)

You are acting like they are just getting rid of it and not replacing it with something else Snow White???

OH! I hope I wasn't giving the impression that I am totally against SWSA closing. While I personally am a bit saddened by the loss of another classic ride I grew up with (well... a tamed version of the original non-"scary" scarier incarnation).... I am perfectly willing to see it go from a bigger picture PoV.

Specifically... we are getting another new and hopefully interesting Snow White based attraction.... and I can accept SWSA's replacement with a Princess M&G as a workable compromise compared to the original dedicated M&G's in the initial version of the FLE plans.

My post was meant, at least on some level... as a general pro-Snow White kind of post since I do feel she seems almost overlooked or taken for granted by a lot of people these days who don't realize how important she actually is. (And honestly.... the new ride may help. Even though she's the FIRST 'Disney Princess', she's often overshadowed by Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty who have castles in the 2 US parks. Giving her a potential E-ticket attraction will do a lot to help raise her standing in the parks for a lot of people who aren't as familiar with her history.)

Hey - I'm not knocking Snow White - a really good movie...we were having a discussion about it the other day and how dark it really is...the Queen gives the huntsman a box to bring her heart back in, for goodness sake. But I still think that doesn't equate to needing two rides right next to eachother. I like the idea of a combo dark ride/roller coaster, and am glad they came up with this. As far as I know, Snow White's Scary Adventure is still alive and well in California. As long as that is the case, closing it in WDW is not so bad at all. (That same fact consoled me during the dark teatime of the soul that was the "Under New Management" years.)
