Sword in the Stone

Which side of the carousel is it on? In all our trips I have never seen it! Is it on the side where stroller parking is...because that would maybe explain how we've missed it...there's always a sea of strollers there
It is located on the side close to the princess fairytale hall, basically on the south side pointed to the back of the castle. We happened upon it by accident in December when a show was starting. Three people got selected during it, and the last pulled it out, a young boy of about 12 i would say.

If you walk through the castle, straight to the carousel you would run into the sword (before running into the fence around the carousel)

Have the most priceless photo of my daughter pulling it out. Her look of shock was hilarious. She waited patiently for her turn and a bunch of college age kids cut in front of her and couldn't pull it out. When she did it they flipped out. It was an all time favorite park memory. She ran and told every cast member she met that day. They all acted amazed at her power. Priceless!

We had a bit of magic yesterday morning. My boys had tried several times over our 9 day trip to pull the sword. It seemed like every time we passed near it, they wanted to try. On Friday, we saw a little show where people were picked and a little girl pulled it out. They were amazed that they saw someone do it. Yesterday morning we had a BOG pre park opening ADR and as we went by my oldest ran ahead and tried again. There was no one else around except a CM standing over by the princess M&G entrance. He was able to pull it out! I have never seen him so excited. Thankfully my mom had her camera out already. I don't think he thought for a moment that he would be able to do it because there was no show going on. Gotta love that bit of pixie dust. I think it made his trip!

Congratulations to your son! What fun!

We also had a BOG pre-park opening ADR and our five year old granddaughter was with DH and I. The other 7 members of our family had decided to sleep in a bit and not go to BOG. DGD is the 4th generation of Disney lovers in our family. Every person in these 4 generations has tried unsuccessfully to pull that sword out of the stone.Well DGD runs ahead of me and her Papa's scooter and grabs the sword, pulls, and up it comes! I could not believe it came out. She was a bit frightened and all I could do was cry in joy of her accomplishment! I finally grabbed my phone and took a picture but I was wiggling and it is blurry! LOL! She bragged all day that she had pulled out the sword. I was so happy that she got the experience. Her parents were a bit ticked that they missed the experience. LOL! Well next time get out of bed!

It seems like it happens often during this per-park opening time frame. If you really need to see this happen, this might be a reason to get a pre-park opening breakfast ADR.

Fantastic story. I really think it is these little bits that make Disney a very special place. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I agree that the pre-opening was a factor. We were hurrying along, not really even paying attention to the fact that he went over there until he started yelling. I'm sure the CM to the side was the one. She was laughing at his excitement over it. For us that ADR was one of our best decisions for many reasons, but this was one of them.

When our daughter was young she would to BBB and CRT. I had the task of entertaining our son while the BBB appointment was going on. The first couple of times I just did stuff around the MK. Later I let him choose the park and the itinerary.

The second time he was feeling a little bit neglected. There were others trying to pull the sword out without any luck. When he pulled the sword came out. A CM came over and gave him a certificate recognizing him as a prince of the realm. I brightened his day.

A shameless plug for my son. The Majesty Makers held a ceremony on Easter Sunday. Two adult men were chosen and failed. Then my son was chosen and succeeded in pulling out the stone. For the rest of the day, I heard all about his "strategy." :-) Video here.

I had heard about this ceremony before, but I'd never seen it live.
