I heard rumors that bell services will not transfer your refrigerated items when you are switching resorts. Can anyone verify that is true? Thanks!

This is true. We just ended up using an Uber to switch resorts since we had some things we wanted to move with us.

How did you manage any cold items? Was your new villa ready when you arrived or did bell services store your items? We will be switching from BWV to AKL-Jambo during a January trip and can move ourselves, since we will have a rental car. Since we will have to vacate our BWV villa by 11 am, I’m most concerned about keeping our refrigerated foodstuffs cold if the villa is not available when we arrive at AKL (which seems likely based on recent reports).

We have switched resorts with refrigerated items. (We also had our own car). We put everything in a cooler, and when we checked in, bell services stored the cooler in their fridge and then held our regular bags as well.
When we got into our room and called down for our luggage to be brought up, I made sure to mention the cooler and they brought everything up together.

Bell services at the new resort held them. It’s only transport they no longer provide but will hold until room is ready.

Thank you. That should allow us to plan our purchases for our entire stay with a single grocery stop.

To be clear, will they not transfer them at all, or they will transfer if it's in a cooler? We were planning to put everything in a soft cooler bag with ice packs and figured that would be fine until we retrieved our items.

They will not transfer anything that requires refrigeration. If it's in a cooler, they will not transport it. It has to be in luggage.

they will refrigerate perishables at the resort you are transferring to, but you need to bring them there yourself, they won't transfer any items that require refrigeration.

Looking at a similar scenario on an upcoming trip, with a twist:

We are transferring from BLT to Boardwalk. We plan to walk to Magic Kingdom that morning (after checking out on time), then drive over to Boardwalk late afternoon when the room there is ready.

We'll have a rental car, so easy enough to transport our luggage ourselves if we choose rather than rely on bell services to transfer, but obviously that won't work for any refrigerated or frozen items. Understanding they won't *transfer* our refrigerated items, will bell services at Bay Lake *store* our perishables during the day after we check out, for us to gather before we switch resorts?

Yes, they will hold them for you. We did this in October. Checked out of VGF, stored the refrigerator stuff and sent the rest via bell services to RIV and headed to MK.

I then went back to get the stuff while the rest of group took bus to RIV as we had someone on a scooter, which doesn’t work for ride share.

I just used Uber to take the refrigerated items with me…and met up with them there.

The resorts not transferring items from one to the other these were special little extras that they're doing away with. Like magical express that is gonna be missed so much All these things Will really be missed.

it was stopped because of issues for safety. I believe someone had medicine that ended up bad and the trucks are not refrigerated so I understand it.

My follow-up to this is that we ended up driving from BLT to BWV earlier in the day than we originally expected (on check out day), so we just drove the groceries over in the car and BWV bell services held them refrigerated/frozen until our room was ready with no issues.

I do really feel for anyone that doesn't have a car at their disposal though.
