Switching resorts because of no AP code?

I am just curious as to if anyone will switch resorts because they did not get an AP rate? We are booked at the WL for 10/12-10/22 and may switch to a moderate. We booked a courtyard view and I have even tried to switch to a woods view or standard view but none are available.
What is everyone else going to do?

Possibly switching from GF 9 nights to split stay at AKL and/or Swan/Dolphin. Still debating.

Last week I switched from AKL to POP. I am actually excited about it - trying to get in a good frame of mind! :flower:

Cookie Princess,
What moderate will you be switching to? We may try CS (never stayed here beofre) or may go with POR. Just curious. I am bummbed too. We have stayed at WL 3 times and love it but I don't know if we can afford rack rates.
Let's keep our fingers crossed...you never know.

As upset as I am... I'm not switching. I make it a policy never to book a rate I can't afford... so while I won't be happy, it won't ruin my stay.

We love POR, but DS wants to try the huge pool slide at CSR so I think we will go with that with a AAA discount to include the food plan. We have stayed at CBR before but didn't like it! While I am bummed about not staying at WL, it will be fun to go with the food plan.

Won't be switching this time, but without any hope of an AP discount, I doubt we'll be staying deluxe again in the future. Rack rates are just too crazy. AAA rates are a definite help, but those AP discounts made it easier to justify the costs of a deluxe stay. Like me, my husb has loved our stays at the Polynesian. However, even with an AP discount, he thought it was crazy to pay what we have at the resort. I expect we'll be looking at the moderates, Swan & Dolphin, and possibly off-site in the future. I have not been comfortable with the BestRate Program. The deposit issue and change fees bother me. With kids, you just never know what may come up and alter your plans. We took a spur of the moment trip last winter because we found great flights and were able to snag an AP discount at the Poly. Too bad we won't be able to repeat that this year! I'm definitely bumming about these changes!

We are staying at the All Stars so we will leave it as is...but we also will not be staying at deluxe resorts anymore. There are also quite a few off property resorts we would like to try!

I think a lot of the problem is those that book what they have no intention of using unless a discount comes out. If you have no intention of staying at a resort unless you get a discount then you really shouldn't book it until the discounts come out. JMO

No I won't switch. Only because I am staying at Movies so there really isn't anything to switch to except off property which I don't want to do.

With my AAA discount though, I am only paying 11.60 more than I would through the best rate program so it doesn't bother me. I at least have flexibility.

Funny...after just having made that comment about the Swan & Dolphin, I just rec'd an email for a $159 rate with complimentary up-grade during Sept. Wonder what those Sept. flights look like?!?! That's a pretty nice rate!

No, I'm not going to switch. One of the main reasons why I go to WDW is because of the GF. :)

Yes, but we are going with a moderate this time BECAUSE of the Best Rate!We just booked 2 rooms at POR today for November. Once Best Rates opened up to a 60 day booking, we were excited to book a deluxe. However, all that was offered was $245 WL CY view, and pool view at AKL for $205. Spring Break last April I only paid $200 at WL! Unreal when people are getting $130 at WL XMAS week! Those were the only 2 deluxe hotels with rooms available. It seems to me that these Best Rates for the deluxe hotels that I have been looking at are not discounted for standard or a woods view...only the rooms that are expensive to begin with. Too bad for Disney since I would have been willing to pay $175 a night for each room at a deluxe, but couldnt get a Best Rate on a lesser view!! Now with the extra $ from booking a moderate, we are going to Universal parks for 2 days and give them our $$

Actually, we had planned on staying at WL, but if I can get the food plan included at a moderate for the price I was paying at WL I will go with the food plan. Does that make sense? We are actually kind of looking forward to using the food plan after reading so many positive posts about it.

If I was going to switch it would be back onsite. But since the Sheraton Safari is still much better price wise than Pop Century, let alone POR (our on site favorite) we'll stay right there...even if cheaper AP rates do come out.
We stayed in Marriott in DC this past week, and I had forgotten just how nice a bigger room is (table and chair and a nice easy chair)..and yet way cheaper than Disney.

Arent you putting the cart before the horse... they never said there would be no AP rates. It was a rumor. And one i can gaurentte you ISNT TRUE!

I'm curious how you can "guarantee" it's not true?

And I don't think people are "putting the cart before the horse".. They are simply making decisions as to whether or not they wish to continue to be held "hostage" by Disney's wishy-washy information - or if they just want to go ahead with the very SIMPLE process of booking more spacious, less expensive lodging offsite..

IF there are not any AP rates for December, I will not be switching. I was able to get an AP rate last December at the Polynesian and I fell in love with it!!! :cloud9:

I booked the Polynesian for this December "hoping" to get an AP rate, but accepting the fact that if I didn't I would still stay there. It is already paid for and it may be my last stay at the Poly. We just became DVC members so we will probably just be staying at DVC resorts in the future. (Too many points to stay at the Poly!)
