Hi... I am planning a trip for March 2004 and we (two single adults) want to stay at the Beach Club for two or three nights. But the first and last night, we want to stay somewhere cheaper so we can actually afford this trip. We were thinking the Hotel Royal Plaza or the Hilton since those are both in the Downtown Disney area. I know Disney will not move luggage to non-Disney resorts, but since these hotels call themselves official WDW resorts.. will they do this? Or should we just banish ourselves to the All-Stars for the first and last night? Nothing against the All-Stars but the Downtown Disney location is really great for the "cheaper nights" since we want to shop the last day and Pleasure Island is nearby. (we won't have a car so the luggage transport thing is a key worry)

Also, we want to have dinner one night at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge. Can we get to the resort by Disney transportation somehow and will they let us in? I know you can get from any point to any point on Disney property by way of transportation but I just want to make sure. :) Thanks for the help in advance!!!

I'm pretty sure Disney will not transfer your luggage to/from those resorts -- someone will know for sure.

You can get Disney transporation to any resort. When we go to a resort for dinner, we usually go straight from a park. That means we just get on the bus, boat or monorail to that resort -- just as we would if we were staying there. In the case of WL, you will ride a boat from MK and a bus from any other park. It's a little bit more complicated to go from your resort. When we do that, we usually go to the bus stop and get on the first park bus that comes. Then we go straight to the WL stop at that park.

Why don't you stay the first two nights in a cheaper hotel and then only move once? Besides, it's going to be hard to stay off-site after staying at the Beach Club!:p

I suggest staying at a cheaper place the first two nights also. It's easier to make the switch from cheap to deluxe. Going the other way is harder. Not sure about the Downtown Disney resorts. I've never stayed in them or anything. If you stayed at All-Stars, you would be guarnteed transportation. You could always call the downtown disney resorts to get a straight answer.

Thanks for the help/suggestions. That's actually a good idea to stay the first nights at an All-Star or off-site. Two broke college students can't afford the Beach Club for the WHOLE time, no matter how long we save!! :)

We pack light, so it's conceivable that we could take our bags on a bus ourselves to make a switch.
