I heard the pool was going to be closed at POR for our trip Jan1-8, so we would be saving about 230 by staying at the all star. ANyone think this is worth it to down grade? also, if you had to choose, which one would you stay at , music or sports. we're both big sport buffs. I've stayed at music and thought it was great. THanks

I've stayed at Music and Caribbean, but not POR. I guess if the pool is going to be closed and you know you want to swim, I would definetly go to Music / Sports. I really enjoyed the All-Star Resort, despite it being a "value" resort. In my opinion, the downgrade isn't that significant from moderate to value.

As far as Music vs Sports, I'm guessing they're about the same. If you've been to Music and really enjoy sports, why not try the Sports? Just a thought! Good luck whatever you decide! :p

I've stayed at both many times and love both resorts. We like to choose Dixie during value season and because we spend a little more time inside the resort than we do when it's warmer out. Keep in mind that only the MAIN pool at Dixie is closing (I hear for almost 4 months), but that this resort has 5 (FIVE) quiet pools, so you will have a pool near your room. I never use the main pool because I like being able to walk from my room to a pool close by. Also, French Quarters only has the ONE main pool at its resort. I think your decision should not be based on the pool unless you choose your resorts by the pools, therefore the quiet pools at Dixie are almost equal to the main pools at the All stars, since the All star pools have no slides or hot tubs. If you want to save money, go with the all stars. We are struggling with our Feb. reservations because we are booked at Dixie, but wanted the WL or AKL and can't get in at an affordable rate. Will keep trying. Hot tubs are important to me during the cool evenings in Jan/Feb.

I prefer the AS over POR. :)
Not only in price, but service. Sure the grounds aren't as fancy. But oh well. :)

I would go with ASSp, especially if you are sports lovers like me :). The $230 savings is worth it, IMO. We're staying at ASSp at the end of a trip at Deluxe resorts (Polynesian & Beach Club) because the price is right and we love the place :).

Having stayed at both the ASSp and ASMu, I'd stay at the POR. The ASSP and ASMu are nice but they are VERY high energy!! The POR is so relaxing, plus you have 5 pools and access to the POFQ's pool too.

The All-stars only have food courts, no sit down restaurant and they have bus transportation only. The POR has Boatwrights restaurant, a food court and the boat to Downtown disney.

They really are 2 different worlds. If your using the room as a place to crash, do an All-Star. If you want to spend time at the resort then definitely do POR because they have recreation rentals, a fishing hole, 5 pools and access to all the POFQ stuff too.

Personally, I wouldn't stay at the ASSP or ASMu again but I would like to try out the Movies sometime, even though they don't usually offer AP discounts.

We enjoyed ASSp in September and it was fine. BTW, there is no one less interested in sports than me.

I say if are Sports fans All-Star Sports is for you. I loved it. I total sports fans.

Just to have a sit down resturats at the resort is not worth the money. Or paying for a slide. I really don't care for landscape stuff are pretty.

Don't get me wrong i may stay at moderate sometime in the future. I just can't see paying the extra money if only use the hotel to sleep.

Than again you is talking to a person that work at Baseball Park so I know the meaning of crazy.

I hope that helps.
