Switch Resort Mid Trip - Room Problems?

We are considering for the first time a resort switch somewhere within the trip. We have always checked into our resort on the weekend and received wonderful magical upgrades at the WL last time (double upgrade to bear face room).

We were wondering if we would be stuck with a poor room location and have less of a chance for an upgrade if we switched resorts in the middle of the week? Has anyone ever experienced this?

We love the WL but my DS wants to try AKL so we would be switching from one to the other at some point if we do this.

I don't think the time of the week will have any bearing on the room you recieve. Just cehck out of your resort and check into the new one early, before you head to a park and then you will usually get a nice room.

We switched between those same two resorts on our January trip and got great rooms at both hotels. I booked a courtyard view and requested highest floor possible with a direct frontal view of the lake with the pool in the foreground at the WL. At the AKL I requested fourth floor, third building from the end, looking into the Arusha savanna. When I checked in, we didn't have either, but the CMs checking us in were wonderful and found exactly what I wanted. The rooms weren't ready either time, but she gave us the keys and told us to call back later for the room numbers. The rooms were exactly what I had asked for. The morning we left the WL for the AKL we did get up early, left our bags with bell services (took them about 5-8 minutes to come pick them up), and then took a bus to AK, then AKL to get checked in early.

I'm doing another split stay in May. After two days at POP, I plan on leaving my luggage for bell services to transfer, catch the early morning character bus to the YC character breakfast, then walk around to the BWV to check in early. I think if you get to the second hotel early, that you might have a better chance of getting the room you want.
