Swiss Army knife allowed on-board?

Scissors are allowed as we have to take three pairs on board with us. I have to have dressings on my feet each day aso we have various pairs for the different types of dressings :thumbsup2

I understand the restrictions and I don't debate them, BUT you eat with more dangerous weapons at dinner every night....

On the Galley Tour, I recall being shown the storage bins where steak knives are locked up during enbarkation and disembarkation.

I think you mean on the cruise ship but just to clarify- these are NOT allowed on carry ons on the flight. Granted it's a YMMV thing though because I have flown oh probably 5 times in the last couple of years and each time I have brought my teensy tiny sewing kit with scissors that are no more than about an inch and a half long... but this last trip I took with the kids they noticed it in the carryon (I think it's because I didn't have nearly as much stuff packed for our short trip and therefore it was more noticable?) and they made me open it and confiscated my tiny scissors. I couldn't believe it! :(

We have always flown with the nail clippers and they are allowed. They wouldn't do any good in the checked bags because we use them to cut off the zip ties that keep the bags closed.

I plan on checking anything that is questionable. I don't even pack tweezers in my carry on. I can't keep track of the ever changing rules. I know lighters and matches are no longer allowed. I'm thankful for this one. I never could figure out why lighters were allowed despite the attempted shoe bombing incident but tweezers were supposedly a no no! Then again in pre 9/11 days I couldn't figure out why my friend was stopped at security because of her asthma inhaler when I was allowed to pass with a little can of military tear gas that I forgot I was carrying (it was like mace or pepper spray). Mine is not to wonder why, I guess.

My post was about scissors- not nail clippers.

And just to clarify- I've travelled many times with my sewing kit- travel kit with teensy tiny scissors and only the last time, last summer, were they confiscated and not allowed thru. Also we had no checked luggage- it was a trip just me and the kids so we only took carry on so as to not mess with checked luggage during this trip- so there wasn't the option of putting things like that in our checked luggage and since I'd taken it on every trip (to WDW and Jamaica) previously... I had no idea they'd confiscate it.

Honestly I think it was just the way it was packed. Previously everything was just thrown in the "toiletries/etc" carry on and this time it was more organized and I had the sewing kit in the zipper pocket on the inside- so it was probably glaringly obvious in the xray thingy on that trip so they noticed it and confiscated it.

It is a YMMV thing though- I will say that. I have taken lighters on every trip and never once has anyone said anything.

Mark I will check the link you showed- I wonder if it's changed since last summer when my scissors were taken from me.
