Swingset review???? SAms club????

We bought the $1200 Costco set. We were not members, so we had to pay the 40 for membership. It was like other posters have said, worth the price for the quality.
My daughter loves it. It's hers, paid for, in her back yard and she always wants daddy to swing her. She is almost 4 and has played on it for almost 2 years. We live in Virginia so she plays on it most of the year. Even in the winter when she has to put on hats/coats/and gloves.
It was money well spent for us.
It really is $100 a month. You could cut your cable/internet off for one year and buy a playset. Kids get more excercise and imagination skills.

We purchased ours about 3 years ago at Sam's--it was around $1000. I haven't read anything on here about the quality of the item---but we found that the green plastic-type coating that is on it cracks completely across. I don't believe it to be dangerous safety-wise, but it sure is ugly. Also, we had to replace probably 1/2 a dozen pieces of wood within the first few months because of defects with the wood. The carpenter bees got up inside the rafters of the roof last year and ate quite a few holes in it---did you know that if you melt Vicks Vaporub in water and spray it on the wood, that it is supposed to keep the bees away? I haven't tried that yet, but want to spray the inside of our pool shed.

We also stained ours with a colored stain that we picked up at Lowes---it's got an 8 year guarantee not to fade and so far (2nd year) it hasn't faded.

I would just be careful to be sure you look at the quality of the item and make sure the company has a good warranty for replacement parts, etc.

Okay guys - Those of you working on putting this together back at the end of March - how did it end up? AND more importantly at right this moment....has anyone seen them being clearanced at Sams yet? We didn't bite the bullet back then, but if I could find one on clearance it would be a no-brainer.

Thanks!

I'm so glad I found this thread. We are going to get the Sam's set this week for DD's birthday. Sounds like everyone has been pretty happy with the set. It is a lot of money, but I think it looks like a quality set, and I have no doubt it would be several hundred dollars anywhere else.

We checked today and our Sam's had 20 in stock. It does say seasonal, but I don't see any signs of them going on clearance. :confused3

I bought a used Sam's club $1000 wooden swing set for $250.00 2 years ago; it was one of the best investments I have ever made! My daycare children use that swing set every day and it has held up really well! I just use sealer every couple of years and it is great shape.

ours is from costco and will be 6 years old in sept. best investment for the backyard so far- mine are now 5 and 7 and play on it every day. dh made a sprinkler setup on top for them to turn on on hot humid south fla days. worth every penny-

Well, I can see 3 (three!) of those Sam's club swingsets from my front yard! They seem to be popular in our neighborhood!

Our house came with a swingset that the previous owner's left. Let me tell you it is great! I believe it is an older Sam's club model. My kids play and play and play on that thing. They have not tired of the swingset - I think they play on it every day. I heartily recommend buying one if you can afford it - these swingsets are so different from the little metal ones we had when I was a kid.
