Hi all,
Would you guys recommend wearing a swimsuit, for adults and kids, under your clothes? Does it help on the water rides? I don't mean I would be stripping off to my swimsuit in the park, I just thought my 4 year old might take her shirt off on the water rides. Thanks!

It depends on what time of year you are going. In the summer, I think it's too hot to wear my swimsuit under my clothes. I don't know if it's PC to take off your wet shirt if you have a suit on under, anyone?? (I personally don't have a problem with it!) I tried this once at the AK and roasted all day, but that was in a one peice - a two piece would be cooler.

last two visits my kids just put them in the bag I carry.....bean#2 usually puts it on under her clothes and wears it the rest of the day.....sometimes with her tshirt over it, sometimes not.....she's got a six pack of abs, so its ok with her :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

We went last week and my family and I wore our swimsuits under our clothes. We also wore our board shorts, which definitely cut down on our drying time.:thumbsup2 At IOA, I see tons of people wearing their bathing suits under their clothing.

i don't know if UO will let anyone go topless on the rides.

and i will not be the one that tests that statement.......

During our last trip (April), my sisters and I planned one day when we would be going on the water rides and wore quick drying, comfy clothes that day.

For us that was cotton capris, underwear, a bikini top and a thin shirt (this way we didn't feel weird if the top got wet, cuz all you were seeing was what you'd be seeing if we were at a beach).

If it were for a 4 year old, I might just have her wear a one piece with shorts, and use the top of the bathing suit as her shirt (unless you're concerned about UV rays, then I'd have her put a shirt on over it).

And stay away from denim pants--VERY not comfortable when they're wet and it's humid out.:scared:

They actually don't like people taking their shirts off for the water rides. Don't ask me why. It's funny because you could get away with walking around the park shirtless but the moment you try taking it off for a water ride, they'll often say something. Especially at Popeye. This goes for both men and women.

We took dry clothes with us one day -- wore our bathings suits under tees and shorts to do all the water rides early in the day, then changed into the dry clothes to do everything else. It was a GREAT day but I'd have been miserable in wet clothes or even a bathing suit. I hate that feeling.

For your and your family's physicial safety and wellbeing, I would not suggest wearing your suit during the warmer months. They serve as an incubator and will not let you sweat and your body breathe to cool off. I work at a summer camp and two years ago we had a counselor who ended up hospitalized for heat stroke because she wore her suit under a T-shirt and athletic shorts. It was very, very serious. ETA: It was the last day of camp.... As the saying goes about something happening when you're least expecting it or think you're home free.

If you do wear them through the warmest months, be sure you're keeping an eye on everyone to make sure that they are staying cool and aren't showing signs over over-heating or heat exhaustion. Could you maybe try to hit the water rides at one time (say 11am-1pm, for example) and then take them off and change into proper under-attire afterwards? Having your heads wet will help you cool down. Or duck into the shops and restaurants through the rest of the heat of the day?

Next Monday the temp is supposed to be 90 degrees with a feels like temp of 98! Afternoon we are heading from PBH to IOA to do the water rides. Our record on Popeye is 6 consecutive rides with FOTL. We will likely do a few Dudley's then head back to the hotel with a possible stop at the HRH pool. I plan on wearing Columbia Professional Fishing Gear swim trunks and shirt. The shirt is ultra light weight polymide (whatever that is) like parachute material. These should dry quickly. We travel light and don't use lockers.

It would also be a good idea to wear a swim suit at Curious George at Universal Studios.
It's a very fun water area for kids (and adults!) to soak other park visitors. I advise not to take cameras anywhere near the area... there's water guns and tools everywhere, and someone could shoot you at any time. It's very fun, and I highly reccomend a swim-suit or at the least, a new change of clothes. :)

On your topic, it may be too warm to wear it under clothes. But again, you could change in the restroom, or simply bring a new change of clothes.
Good luck, and have fun in Florida!

We just got back, and my 4 year old did wear a swimsuit (2 piece) under her clothes. It was definitely the right decision. She ended up soaked at Curious George and If I Ran the Zoo!
