Hello. We are planning a trip to Walt Disney World December 13-20th. My brother and sister and their families along with my mom and dad are planning to be there are the same time. I am really looking forward to us all being together. Since my kids love the water, could anyone tell me if the waterparks are open during this time frame? Thanks in advance.

At least one of the water parks will be open during your visit. Historically one of them is closed for rehab during this timeframe, so you may not get your choice of Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach, but one of them should be open.

With the weather in December, you may want to schedule your water park day on the nicest day you'll be there. We usually travel to WDW in January, and if we see on the weather report (after we get there) that one day will be much nicer or warmer than the others, that's teh day we plan on the water park.

Hope this helps!!

I'm glad to see this question. We have in the past gone in January. While Ds has swam during this time in the pool, I found the air very cool and we have not done a water park. This year we are going early Dec. and hope that this might give us at least a shot at a water park. Is is warm enough for this to be enjoyable? With all the christmas activities I'm sure that we could have plenty to do without it , but DS really wants to go. I'd love any feed back anyone has!

It all depends on what you are used to! DH and I were raised in the deep south. Anything below 75 degrees is cool to me! Now we live in a COLD place. People here wear shorts if it gets up to 55!! Our neighborhood pool opened last weekend. People (including MY 4 kids!) were swimming and the air temperature was in the 60's! Even though the pool is heated, as are the ones at Disney, I am just not brave enough to do this! The water parks are even harder because if you are standing in line for a slide and wet and a cool wind blows YIKES!!! We have been to Disney in December and March and both times it was too cool for US to swim. The weather can vary wildly though, so just play it by ear. It would be great to go to a water park when almost no one is there. We went to TL last August, it was crowded but we still had a blast. I love to feel the HOT sun on my skin, I miss it so much up here!!! Our summers here are way too short!!!

My family has been in Disney for the week of Christmas and New Years and it has always been freezing. Although there were a few brave kids in the pool, the rest of us were usually in wrapped up in sweatshirts and coats. Be prepared for anything!!
