Swimming in December--any chance?

Can I hear from folks who live in the colder, MidWestern climates?

How many of you have found it warm enough to take the kids swimming for a few hours in the afternoon the first week of December?

Anybody even gone to BB or TL?

We have been to Disney several times the week after Thanksgiving, and it is totally unpredicatable. Sometimes mid 70's sometimes breezy and 60's.

I haven't gone in December, but we did go to Blizzard Beach in January. It was a little cool, but the sun felt nice. It was sure better than the 20s-30s back home in Utah.

Well we don't live in the midwestern part of the country - but we leave in the northeast. We go to WDW almost every year in the first week of December and without fail we have dipped into the pool! The water is warm so even if the air temp is 65ish - coming from 30's or lower it feels like a balmy summer day.

So I say GO SWIMMING!

All the pools and water parks are heated and I have seen swimmers splashing about in vitrually all temperature conditions.

Our kids (13 & 10) swam this past Nov/Dec at both the POR pools and the POLY. We were there the week following Thanksgiving. We swam in the afternoons and we were fine. The kids had a great time and it was awesome to relax by the pool for a few hours. We did not do the waterparks but just because we are not waterpark fans. It probably would have been warm enough a couple of days. The air would have been cool when you were wet but not unbearable. They even swam once at night and had a blast as the pools are heated and the steam was rising off them. A good way to end a long day.

We were just there December 16-25. My boys swam every day. I even got into the pool a few days myself. The 17th and 18th were a little chilly and rainy, but the pool was very warm. In fact, the lifeguard told us they had turned up the pool temp to 91 degrees. The rest of our days were sunny, low 70's, so being from the north, it was plenty warm for us to swim.

I don't live in the midwest, but we were just there right before Christmas and both of my kids went swimming several times at POFQ. The pool is heated, so that helped. Unfortunately, you never know what the temps will be in Florida in December. We thought it would be in the 70's the week we were there, but it ended up being in the 50's-60's and overcast most days. We did have a couple of warm, sunny days, though.

Sunny days in the 70s are common even in January, and are very frequent in December. There is almost no time of year when the normal high in Orlando is not at least 70 degrees (maybe mid-January it drops to 68 or 69). Swimming is possible year round. That's why there are very few indoor pools in Orlando!

Of course, you could catch a cooler spell when the highs are in the 50s. It is unpredictable, but plan to be able to swim.

Tim, who hates the current 25F temperature here in Green Bay. Forecast low for Friday night/Saturday morning: -5F! Eek!

We're from Kansas City and my DH and DS swam in December 04 at WL. It was about 75 degrees and they had a ball. I, on the other hand, was chicken!!!

You've all made me feel much better about planning a December trip this year. My DD's love to swim and would drive us crazy if they couldn't. Being from MI - 70's are plenty warm to swim.

I saw on the DVC boards that Disney has opted to turn the pool temp down from 85 to 80 to save energy. Don't know if that'll last. Just sharing what I read.
