Hi - Can you swim from any of the resort beaches? My mom and I are planning a trip next year and discussing where to stay. We stayed at the Poly years ago and she loved it there. I was surprised to see last year that signs were posted on the beach to stay out of the water now. Is it just there or all of the resorts? Why have they done it anyway?

Thanks for any info!
Lisa

I do not believe that you are allowed to swim in the lake from any of the Disney resort beaches.

I'm pretty sure swimming at any of the resort beaches is now prohibited.

I've read that is a bacteria issue. Too costly to treat the entire lagoon.

That is correct.

And Yuck...with all the beautiful man made pools, why would you want to go in the man made lagoon? It looks mucky, murky and who knows what's living in in it :sad2:

There is a fresh water amoeba that is dangerous if it enters your body through the nose. Not to mention the alligators that lurk in many of the lakes.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies! I didn't think you could go in the water but my mom didn't seem to believe me "because you could back then". She seems to be basing the hotel considerations solely on where there are beaches.
