go ahead and wear your bathing suit! i'd feel more self conscious in a pair of shorts and a tshirt than i would in a bathing suit (i'm size 20)...just wear your shorts down to the pool and take them off before getting in.

have FUN!

That sounds like a nice time! I'm glad you had a nice time! Thanks for your answer - every answer is giving boosting my confidence!

It's all about having a good time. Be comfortable in your own skin. Your you! Smile & others will smile too.

PS: Did I mention I rode in the the front seat with DS24 on this huge Rollar coaster, screamed the whole way. Kids were pretty darn proud of me :thumbsup2. LOL!

Hey screaming is okay - you still did it! I don't think I could do the front seat of a huge roller coaster though - go you!

I am pooh sized also . I was at a pool party this last weekend. The sisters of the person who held the party were also in attendance. They make pooh sized me look like piglet. 2 of them wore the shorts and tank. The other 3 wore a bathing suit. The bathing suits looked much better. Don't be embaressed. Just have fun. If people stare let them. I bet your haveing a better time if that how they are spending their time in disney. I would join you but we are not going until next may.

That's very true! I'm sure I'd be having a much better time than someone who was making rude comments about someone else! That is very sweet of you! This is why I enjoy DISboards so much - it's like one giant family of Disney fanatics!! I wish I were going next May!! I hope you have a magical trip!!

I say wear the suit, and be on the lookout for another on sale suit to wear when suit one is damp, oh and co-ordinating cover ups to throw on for walking to and from the pool and complete the ensemble, and maybe a hat, too, matching sandals and gotta do a pedicure w/ co-ordinating polish:lovestruc!
Add a good book, sunscreen, lounge chair and favorite beverage - bliss.

I agree with the others. I wear a size 16-18 and wear a cover up to the pool or beach but then I take it off and don't think twice. I think once you get the hang of it, by forcing yourself to do it once a twice, it won't bother you. Also you'll realize no one is paying any attention to you, they're all busy playing in the water or reading by the water ;) Also if you are looking for good plus sized suits and cover ups I *adore* Land's End especially because they have tops that are DD-DDD if you have that problem too!

Well said everyone! Yes indeed, wear what YOU are comfortable in. We are all different shapes and sizes, and beauty comes from within! And if anyone is going to judge you because of your size, well then, their opinions don't count for ANYTHING! And shame on them! ENJOY your trip!

Well, surprisingly enough, the size 16 Nautica swimsuit didn't look too tight at all! But thanks!

Beauty does most certainly come from within - thank you for reminding me as I think I sometimes forget :) Thank you for the happy thoughts!

I'm so glad I read this thread. It just makes me like people even more! I have always been very self conscious of my body! I would consider myself very average in size and still have a hard time wearing a suit in public. With that being said, I have gotten a lot better about it at Disney. It just seems that everyone there just wants to enjoy themselves and could care less about what others are wearing.

Please wear what you are most comfortable in. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well you will fit in:thumbsup2

A friend told me several years ago...."there will always be some smaller than you AND someone bigger than you..." that help put it in perspective.

And, most people are too worried about their own self. Wear your new suit and dont worry... just enjoy yourself!!! :)

I figure that I am so WHITE that my skin will produce a glare that will make it impossible for people to look directly at me, so I am not going to worry about what I wear to the pool. :rotfl2:

We are going in May and we will be enjoying the pool at the POP!! So if you are going then....I recommend sunglasses, in case you see me at the pool. :rotfl2:

Have a great time!!!

lol, I started going tanning before our trip (we are 13 days away) not because I resembled casper, but because if I'm going to burn, I'd rather get the worst of it at home and be miserable and sore here rather than in Disney!! But if by some miracle we get there in May and stay at POP, I wouldn't disregard you because of the reflective glare, it would be my pleasure to meet another DISer!!

I'm glad I started this thread! It reminds me that there are genuine and non judgmental people out there!!

I just purchased a brand new Nautica bathing suit for half off, who can beat that? However, I also have a pair of mens swimming trunks that I planned on wearing in the first place because I am to put it nicely "pooh-sized," I am about a size 22 in womens, should I wear my new bathing suit and not worry about what others are whispering about my thighs or hips? Or should I stick to the trunks and a tee-shirt to avoid embarrassment? I know not everyone is judgmental but there are some out there, I just don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable having to watch my "thunder thighs" jiggle as I'm walking around the pool area.

This is no offense to any other "pooh-sized" men or women. I just know I have thicker thighs and big hips, other "pooh-sized" men or women may carry their weight elsewhere.

Wear your Nautica suit, and (if you like) get a cheap sarong to go around your waist but tie it around your hip. It is very stylish, inexpensive and looks great while covering your lower half. They're also sexy. Ditch the trunks and t shirt for swimming, in my opinion.

I have a bathing suit cover up thing made from towel material, very cute, and happens to match my bathing suit!! I may wear my trunks over my bottoms until we are ready to swim, but who knows.

Hi, if you have the coverup why would you need the trunks? I think the coverup would be fine, especially if it matched your suit. In fact it sounds cute. I think, in my opinion the trunks would distract from your swim attire. What color is your Nautica suit? I just bought a Lands End one piece 65 percent off in off white. I hope you can't see through it! LOL

I bought them for the trip, just trying to get use out of them I suppose...lol. And not quite sure if the cover up still fits, it's about 3 years old and I'm about 30lbs heavier, haha. I have wide hips, was going based upon the fact that the trunks might cover them up better until I'm ready to go in the pool.

My Nautica suit is navy and yellow, it's really cute, and although the bottoms and top were sold separately, they were both half off, so my total was around 46.00 w/ tax!

I wouldn't worry about your new suit being see-through, they are made from different material than other clothes and are thicker, plus, I think in most swimsuits, they kind of have a padding in the top, which would eliminate anything being see through! Congrats on your purchase, 65% off, you can't beat that! What color is yours?

Hey! I purchased mine in white, because I did the self tan, so hopefully it would look good with a tan and I have "brunette" hair! LOL! Here's the link:

I used to be a image consultant. It was fun! I love fashion and makeup and the whole nine yards! I know what looks good on most body types. I try to dress for my body type also. That's why I did recommend the sarong for you. It's very sliming and covers alot of problem areas that we may think we have. BTW can you see the link?

brunette

Aw, bless your heart! I agree with everyone.... wear your swimsuit! You will draw way more attention to yourself wearing the frumpy clothes. They make so many cute, flowing sundresses now and you could use one as a cover-up too! Have fun and no worries!!!! :flower3:
