My favorite part of vacationing in the south is the sweet tea! I try to duplicate it at home, but it is never as good. Anyway, of all the times I have been to Disney I have never seen sweet tea as an option to order. And every time I ask, they say they don't have it to serve. Does anyone know if they serve it anywhere on property?

I've had it at the Concourse Steakhouse before. I would at least ask at any of the table service restaurants, especially at the resorts. With all the emphasis on healthy living though, they may be phasing it out.

You're going to increasingly find what they have is unsweetened iced tea Iand the same everywhere).

I had been told that Liberty Tree Tavern offered sweet tea, but when we went last Christmas they no longer served it. As a southern girl (although I can't stand the thought of sweet tea in my mouth) I understand the NEED people have for it. Alot of people I know that's all they drink. I don't think it has anything to do with healthy lifestyles, if that were the case then softdrinks would be gone. It probably has to do with the time or effort to make it. Just one more thing someone has to do.
Sorry, wish I were more help. When you made it at home you probably didn't use enough sugar to get the sweetness you desire. How much sugar did you use? My DH uses 2 Cups per gallon! Happy Brewing! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sweet tea is (and has been for a long time) available at Trails End in FW. TE offers breakfast, lunch and Dinner buffets(nothing fancy, but low priced by Disney terms) and is an easy walk from the boat dock.

Not trying to hijack or anything......but what the heck is sweet tea? Is it any different than tea with sweetener in it?

No! No! No! :sad1: :sad1:

Please don't tell me LTT doesn't serve sweet tea anymore!! I am a southern girl and I like my tea sweeter than sweet. Expecting to have to sweeten it up, I was pleasantly surprised at LTT's tea two years ago. It was almost as sweet as my momma's!! Fingers crossed that it's back on the menu when we go this time! That tea is the reason we booked a meal there!

House of Blues had it when we were there a couple of years ago. We skipped it this trip, so I don't know if they still do.

I have an ADR for Tails End in two weeks when we go, so Hopefully they still serve it. We always stop at Publix and buy a couple half gallons to take home with us, can't wait! When I try to make it at home I use two cups of sugar in my simple syrup, but I think that I use too may tea bags.

As a Californian transplanted first to NC and then to FL, I'm still trying to figure this out...

Sweet tea is more than just sweetened. It's brewed tea and then a sugar syrup is mixed into it. It is so sweet that it slightly thickens the liquid - although that is almost misleading. It is really beyond a sweetness that you can get with a packet of sugar because the syrup makes it dissolve.

To make at home: Make a sugar syrup of 2 parts sugar to 1 part water. Boil until dissolved. Stir into your pitcher of tea. Prepare for sugar shock. FYI - It's great made with Splenda.

I love it when a thread shows up that I can claim some authority in.

I, too, was grieved when LTT no longer served sweet tea. But if you're traveling by car to WDW, you can find better-than-average sweet tea at Cracker Barrel.

We use a Mr. Coffee Ice Tea maker. We steep three family-sized teabags in the machine and add about 1 1/2 cups of sugar to the product, and then add water to fill up the pitcher the rest of the way. It's almost as good as Mamma's.

You just can't get iced tea sweetened properly using packets of sugar. True south of the Mason-Dixon line sweet tea could be poured on pancakes.

Splenda does, indeed, work in a pinch, but it's not gonna fool anyone.

This is how we make it on vacation using a microwave. Buy a wood spoon, pitcher, sugar and tea bags at a store. You can use a quart size bowl to heat your water and three family size tea bags for 5-7 min. on high. (if your bags bust then it was to hot. Let steep for about five to 10 min. then heat back up for 1 to 2 min. until very hot. Put a cup or two of sugar in pitcher and then the hot tea. stir until disolve and fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water.

If at WDW make sure you use bottled water cause then your sweet tea will taste like sweet swamp tea.

You can also use empty gallon jugs, and those glad reruse bowls work good and the wooded spoon can be used to spank your young'ins. Nothing goes to waste.

Sweet tea is pretty much a thing of the South. I think you almost have to grow up with it to fully understand and love it.;) It's NOT the same as unsweetened iced tea with sugar spooned in and stirred. I gave up on drinking sweet tea at WDW years ago. I just order a Coke for my sugar jolt.

Columbia Harbor House! I had it myself in September (it kept me from going into withdrawal.......:lmao: ) I had heard that was the only place you can get it in WDW. Plus, their food is really good, too!

I know they serve it at the Hard Rock Cafe @ US because the waiter made a mistake and brought me sweet instead of unsweetened...boy, was that a shock!!!

The difference in Sweet Tea and sweetened tea if for one you use pure grain sugar, definitely not any artificial sweetner.

Then the tea must be brewed hot with a very good grade of tea, while the tea is still hot the sugar is added, then the sugar is stirred until dissolved. Then you serve it over ice.

You can find good Sweet Tea at Cracker Barrel and Chick-Fil-A but the best in my opinion is from McAlister's Deli, in fact their Sweet Tea is a registered trademark.

If you are traveling you can try them out.

I couldn't find any sweet iced tea. :sad2:

Here's where we ate last:
ABC Commissary
Brown Derby
Fulton's
LeCellier
Artist Point
Narcoossees
Kona Cafe
GF Garden Cafe
Rainforest Cafe

Sweet tea is pretty easy to make.

Boil tea bags in water. Pour in pitcher. While it's still hot you add sugar to taste.

Cool in fridge and drink.

That's pretty much all I drink in the summer.

So sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we were just at Disney World
this past week and LTT didn't have sweet tea. I definitely made the request, and the waiter said they use to have it, but not any more.:sad2:

By the way, the way I make my sweet tea is, I put a small boiler of water on to boil. Once it boils, I add my tea bags, put the lid on and turn the burner off. I let it steep, then I have my sugar already in the pitcher, then I pour the steeped tea over this, stir til sugar dissolves. After that, then I add the rest of the water to make a gallon.:thumbsup2
