Saturday 30th August 2008
We made it up early, finished our packing and got the car loaded up. DH went and checked out and we all had breakfast. I wore jeans today as I had worn shorts every day and it had been slightly on the cooler side until mid afternoon. Just my luck it was absolutely scorching today!
We got into the Disneyland Park and spent a bit of time taking some photos on Main Street while it was so quiet and then did the usual Fantasyland rides.
We then did Buzz Lightyear a couple of times. DH then suggested we child swap on Space Mountain. I wasnt so keen as I can really take or leave thrill rides and my preference is to leave! Anyway we did the child swap. He went first and then I went. I typically got sat next to someone who had a huge great rucksack on his lap so my seat restraint didnt close. I was just about to panic when I noticed that everybodys had come up!!! He then removed the rucksack and we were all safely strapped in! It is really strange riding on your own as if I had been next do DH or my Dad I would have been moaning all the time with things like why am I on here what have I done but because I was along I kept quiet. I also didnt scream (although I wanted to) because I didnt want the man next to me to think I was a Woos!!! Anyway, I didnt mind the ride but I really didnt like how it shook your head about!
We then left and dashed over to the Studios to get in the Crushs Coaster queue. We were obviously earlier today and DH ran ahead to get a spot in the queue and me and DD followed as quickly as possible behind. We were surprisingly near the front so when it opened at 10am we only had about a 10 minute wait! DH sat with DD this time facing forward and I went backwards (it was even worse)! DD would you believe absolutely loved it this time round and cant wait to get Nanny on it when we go in January!!!
We checked out the wait times for the Tram Tour and it was 45 minutes so we had to give it a miss. Next time!
We went back over to Disneyland and got a fastpass for Thunder Mountain definitely the favourite ride of the trip. While we waited we queued for Minnie Mouses autograph. I nearly melted in the queue damn jeans!
We then rode Thunder Mountain for the last time.
We visited the shops for the last time and DD picked her last soft toy. We said before we came this time that she wasnt to buy so many this time. I think she had bought about 10 back from Florida each time! Still, I said one more (!!) and she decided on Tigger as he had been so friendly last night at the Lucky Nugget Saloon!
We stopped in the Disney Village for lunch at New York Sandwiches.
Now it was time for Panoramagique!!! DH had to make his decision as to whether or not he would ride it. He is funny with heights and wasnt all that comfortable in the London Eye. He decided to stay on the ground. Me and DD queued for almost an hour! It was annoying because if they had 4 people waiting and the next party was for 4 people and that was 2 many they wouldnt call out Any parties of 2 which would have made the queue move soooooo much quicker. So some times the balloon was going up with only 4 people on it when there were about 20 of us waiting in the queue! Anyway, we got up in the end. I was fine until we were up all the way and I looked down the middle!!! Felt the legs go a bit to jelly then. DD was loving it and had no fear at all. I was pleased to get back on the ground. I took some nice pictures up there but it would have been nice to have someone who could have pointed landmarks out. It was a lovely clear day and Im sure you could have seen the Eiffel Tower only I didnt know what direction to look in. I was very pleased I did it though.
That inevitable time had now arrived and it was time to go home. We got in the car, filled up with petrol at the station near Santa Fe and we were then on our way. DD was asleep while Disney was still visable through the rear view mirror!
The journey to Calais was fine and we both remarked that the toll roads were well worth it. We had a bit of a wait to get on the Shuttle but that was fine. We started off the journey from Folkestone OK but then when we got near Newmarket on the A11 we were diverted off because of an accident and there was about 10 mile tailbacks. With the help of the Sat Nav and a couple of calls to Father in Law we managed to get on another road and picked up the A11 at Thetford. Luckily we had stopped to eat at Stansted or I would have been panicking about DH. It meant we didnt get home until about 10pm, exhausted! We dropped DD into bed and unloaded the car. We then got into bed ourselves as we were going to my Mum and Dads for a BBQ the next day to celebrate DDs birthday with friends and family.
We had had a really really great time and Im looking forward to going back with my Mum and DD in January. It has of course made us even more excited about our Orlando trip in 2010 but it was reassuring to know that when we need a quick Disney fix we have something so delightful not that far away.
Thank you to any of you who have read my first report. I hope to get better the more visits I make!! Its just an excuse really to keep going back!!
If anybody has any questions about any attractions/restaurants we visited I will be more than happy to answer them.
