Haven’t had one in a long time. There was a place I used to go to for lunch that had a croque monsieur served with sweet cornichons. I bought cornichons before, but were usually sour dill, like the French cornichons at Trader Joe’s.

Found some at a dollar store. Not a whole lot, but not too bad for a dollar. It says they’re made in Vietnam, and I wasn’t aware they did this in Vietnam. Most seem to be little bit on the large side for gherkins, but it’s not bad.

Anyone else have a taste for gherkins, including the sweet type. They’re a lot like sweet pickle chips or pickle relish.

Sweet pickles are my favorite. Do not like dill. Bread & butter will do in a pinch.

I LOVE sweet gherkins - they're perfect on a relish tray with sweet cocktail onions and pickled baby beets. :cloud9: In Canada, most of the pickles on the shelves are processed in India with Canadian vegetables. :( I'm a fanatical label reader and there's only one national brand that's actually processed here. In a pinch I buy Vlasic because they're processed in the States.

What timing, I just found and opened a jar of cornichons from the pantry yesterday. We used to eat them all the time but fell out of the habit. They’re about the only thing the fussy teething baby has been willing to eat in the past 24 hours.

I noticed that too. My dills are a product of India. But my gherkins say, proudly made in Canada. They are Bicks. :)

Got curious and found that Target has sweet gherkins in some stores under their Market Pantry house brand. Also in different place there are some from Del Monte, Heinz, and Vlasic, although I don’t recall seeing them anywhere. Maybe I’ll need to look around.

The jar I got was Pampa brand from Transnational Foods.

I can’t stand sweet pickles. I don’t even like the smell. I am a dill pickle person all the way.

Yes - all the Bicks are made in Canada as far as I know. I always buy them when I can. Every store brand (President's Choice, Compliments, Great Value, et al) seems to be processed in India. No thanks.

If you can find Maille, they're made in France. Not sure if they have sweet ones.

I usually go for German style Gherkins. Those with grilled salt and pepper chicken is amazing. A little potato salad too.....

I occasionally buy a jar of those sweet baby cornichons, but my favorite is Bread & Butter vertical slices sold in the refrigerated area.

When I was a kid, I didn’t believe that pickles were cucumbers. Ewwwww.

I also didn’t believe that popcorn and potato chips, junk food favorites, came from “healthy” natural foods. I thought they were manufactured like candy.
