Sweating in August anyone

August 12-19 (Offsite--Marriott's Grande Vista) and August 19-26 (POR) for us! We are worrying about the heat and crowds, since we are used to May, but it's the only time that works out for us now that the kids are older.

Even hot and sweaty, I'll be happy in the middle of the magic.

Adult only anniversary trip for us 8/6-8/12  We're staying at the Grand Floridian. I imagine we'll find something to keep us occupied during the heat of the day! :rolleyes1 We went during August in 2001 and it was hot but not unbearable. We're used to heat and humidity in the summer and we just went swimming most afternoons. It was the most rain that we have ever had at WDW but strangely enough, it was always when we were on a bus traveling somewhere - it didn't bother our plans one bit! All ADRs are made. I'm waiting to try to get an Illuminations Cruise and then I'll be packing my bags! See you all there!

Count us in!!!! We will be at the Beach Club 8/22-9/1!

We are ready for the heat :cool2: ...hoping for smaller crowds :crowded: .

Looking forward to SAB to keep us cool. :)

We went in early August last year, and while we enjoyed it that week took its toll on us. We live in the midwest, so we can have pretty humid days in the summer, but we got our butts kicked. I know to drink alot of water, but what do you do when your child won't drink? We tried to go back to the room for the afternoon, and used the pool often. But even at that we had three sick kids before our trip was over. I am hoping that June will be a little better, but just in case at least we will be better prepared this time. We know what to expect a little more. I also couldn't belive the crowds, I can't believe they could be any worse than they were then. Oh well as long as our lives revolve around school the summer is our only Disney option.

We're going August 13-18th and staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge's Kilamanjaro Club! Woohoo! I'm so excited and counting down the days. I plan to sit by the pool and swim all day or watch the animals from our balcony. :cool1: We also have some great reservations, yum!

Have fun everyone!

I'll be sweatin' in August with quite a few of you.

We will be in Florida from 8/13-8/19. Spending a few days at Disney and 1 at US and 1 at the beach.

Great tips! Keep them coming!

We're going Aug 18-25...first time in the heat of August. We need as many tips as we can get!

That's when we're going...we can take the heat (did cancun as a honeymoon mid-August) three years before, we are just hoping for no h---icanes (dirty word when planning August Disney vacation)

went to WDW last august to take advantage of the free dinning. I would go during this time if I had no other choice, but it is way too hot all day. I prefer the less intense March weather... We'll be there in 9 days! :cool1:

We're going August 7 - 18, and we can't wait. CSR for 6 nights then on to BC for 5 nights!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Check out the sporting goods section of Walmart and get neck wraps (about $1.89 each). You soak them in cold water in the morning and obviously put them around your neck. DD vomits after being in the heat for a while and this saved her. We than "recooled" this once or twice each day by soaking it for 10 seconds in the big barrels with ice where they sell the water misters.

We are going August 22-29 at POFQ. pixiedust: This will be our first trip in August. We are very excited about it. :cheer2: Am concerned about the heat but not having the crowds to deal with will be a plus. Hey, Jamie06, we will be there at the same time!!!!!! :cool1:

We'll be there July 29-Aug. 6--staying at the Dolphin--great teacher rates! As I see it, there are many pro's to doing WDW during the summer (anyway--I'll be convincing myself of this every year til the kids are grown and DH and I can go whenever we want):

1. No worrying about what to tell the kids' teachers/make up work from school.
2. All attractions are open.
3. WDW does A/C as well as entertainment!
4. Later/longer hours at the parks.
5. Refreshing rain showers daily.
6. Smaller crowds than Christmas time/Spring break.
7. Good excuse to eat Mickey bars and Mickey ice cream sandwiches.
8. Easily sweat off calories from said Mickey bars and ice cream sandwiches.
9. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.
10. It's hot and humid in Illinois in August, too. I tolerate heat better when I'm with the Mouse. :sunny:

We'll be there August 20-24 at the Beach Club, then the Wonder 3 night!
We've been three times in July, so we totally know what to expect, hopefully the crowds will be lower than July 4th week. :worship:
