I was wondering if anyone will be in the Hot Disney Sun in August?

pixiedust: for mild Aug. Sun

:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

I will be! I'm going Aug 3rd for 2 weeks! Hopefully it wont be too hot, but who am I kidding?? :cool2:

ooohhhh, no thanks, been there, done that (2003).

Make sure y'all (or you guys) drink plenty of fluids and take plenty of breaks.

Enjoy the crowds, too! :crowded:

Still, a Disney trip is better than no Disney trip at all - have fun!

Dh and I took a spur-of-the-moment long weekend trip to WDW at the very beginning of August last summer. While it was hot, it was nowhere near as warm as it was at home (and in most of the US at that time). We were surprised to find NO CROWDS. It was less crowded than any of our other trips over the past year!! If rates are good again this summer, we may do the same thing -- a short trip without the kids.

We have gone the past 2 years at the end of Aug an have one planned for next Aug.

It is HOT!!!!!! Like, you will "glisten" like crazy! On the other hand, we have never had much of an issue with crowds.

Just drink TONS of water, take a break mid-day, and plan on taking a minimum of 2 showers a day.

I'll be there 8/12-8/17. Yes, I know it will be hot, but we went to Myrtle Beach last year during the last week of July and it was around 100 degrees every day. Hopefully it won't be THAT hot. :sunny:

8/11 thru the 20th for us! We have been over Memorial day, July 4th week, and once before in early August...ALL were hot. We are hoping that the crowds may be a bit better being mid-end August, but most likely not. We have also gone in Dec...18-28, and it was odd doing rides in our winter coats and gloves! We kept saying no way would we be doing that at a theme park back home! Yes it's hot, but it just seems like vacation when it's hot. We enjoy the water parks, water rides, pools, and LATE park hours! Yep, you ARE sweaty, but seriously...a WDW trip for our family is not glamorous...it's FUN, FUN FUN! You will have a great time...jsut remember to use FP right away, and pack those ponchos! It tends to rain every afternoon, sometimes right out of nowhere. I remember at AK one time, walking with our food to the tables, and in aninstant the skies opened up and our fries were swimming in their cups! Riding Kali was not an issue after that! :rotfl2:

We just booked yesterday!! :teeth:
Hopefully since we're going at the end of August it will be a little less hot, but we figure we'll split up the day, swim in the afternoons, and drink plenty of water. I don't care if it's hot, I want to go back home!!!

DD and I will be going in August. :sunny: I keep a mini fan and will also freeze water for us to drink all day. Since DD is young (5) we take an afternoon rest at the hotel and return in the evenings for shows/parades. All rides we want to get to we try for first thing in the morning.

Only a few more days until I can make my ADR's! :cool1:

We arrive from the UK on the 8th August for 3 weeks.

Tend to get to the parks early and after a break in-between return in the evening, in theory avoiding the worst of the heat.

We'll be there Aug. 3-12. I already have mini-fans for all of us, and Brita bottles so we can keep refilling with ICE and cold water.

We'll be going back for a break every day after lunch.

And I will be buying some Liz Claiborne golf shirts that "inhibit odor causing bacteria". :crazy2: At least that's what is says on the label! For $45 per shirt they better do SOMETHING! I'm actually hoping they will get marked down before they sell out of my size.

I found a really nice Nike golf shirt for DS that is designed to wick away moisture. I didn't realize they made youth sizes! So far I have only been able to find one in a light color - the others I have seen are navy.

Not sure what DH will wear - he will have to test out some different shirts before we leave and figure out what's most comfortable. :sunny:

We will be at POFQ Aug. 23- 30. Is it hot? :rotfl: Oh yeah! But that's ok - smaller crowds and reduced rates make us sign up every time. :cool1: We drink alot of water and take it easy - also I will wash clothes quite a few times! Delta Airlines will thank us for that! :rotfl2:

We are leaving August 12 for 2 weeks to Florida. POP Century starting the 15th, we are doing other Florida things also, and seeing family and friends. We are also planning on looking at a few houses!!!!!! YEY! I love Florida!

We will be there Aug 12-18th. I would rather be hot in Disney having fun than hot at home doing nothing. I have 2 water bottle fans to cool us down and will be taking breaks in the afternoon for a swim then return to the parks in the evening.

We will be there in August too! Don't know what dates yet - going with friends and we have to work around schedules.

Anyway if you see someone hot and sweaty - it will be me!

We will all suffer together, but if you had to suffer anywhere - isn't Disney the place?

This is our third end of August trip coming up! IT is hot, but if you keep ahead of it, meaning you don't get overheated, you'll be fine. We stop in some of the air-conditioned shops, even for five minutes, to cool down a bit. The kids have water bottle carriers and drink water frequently (hard for my son, but I keep at him!).

Bring extra bras or plan on doing lots of laundry! Nothing worse than wearing a damp sweaty bra, or having to put one back on after a shower or dip in the pool (YUCK!)

Crowd-wise we've been pleased. Sure there's people but it's not too bad. Use EMH in the morning (night EMH's were very crowded) and use Fastpass.

See you there!
