Swap ideas for the new year (2007)

Here are my thoughts...

Epcot (H) - element - 2 groups one World Showcase 11 swappers: one group Future World (need a list no more than 11 swappers) Sign ups 1/4/07; Due 2/26; Mail back by 3/3

Shows (H) - All 4 parks- (2 elements of swappers choice 2 groups of 6 swappers per group) - Sign ups April, Due May

Kids - suggestions?

Seasons (H) - altered season slide mounts (2 each per swapper - total of 2 groups- 5 swappers per group) - Sign ups 2/28; due 3/28; return to swappers on 4/2/07

Wow! You guys have been thinking and working hard on all of this! It is awesome! Thanks so much! Hopefully, this work ahead of time will eliminate the need for scrambling at the end of swap. :thumbsup2

PrincessNancy:

As you know I'm up for an EPCOT swap. Would it be page kits or elements or both? (That whole conversation above was way too confusing for me...) Would you want sign ups to be in early Jan and due in mid Feb? That would work for me. :lmao:

Trying to get a feel for what everyone would prefer.. Would you like the World Showcase or Future World.. oooh! Nevermind... We'll do one group for each.. Now to find a list...
Yes, early Jan. Due Mid Feb.. was what my thoughts were from previous conversations..
Elements only... no photo mats or frames would be offered!! :Pinkbounc

I've read everything so far but I'm trying to get the kids ready for school, then I'm off to vote and hit ACMoore. I will update by lunch time.

I know some really like getting a page kit. It does sound pretty cool to just be able to plug in your pictures and woosh, instant/complete page. I think my mats are okay. Nothing awe inspiring, but still pretty okay. My frames are just silly. But I don't really like doing either one.
So here's my idea for a future page kit. You make 3 elements from whatever list the hostess chooses (some times there are bottlecaps and signs, some times not) AND you make super simple mats of two colors that co-oridinate with your elements. One color is 4-1/4x6-1/4 on top of second color that is 4-1/2x6-1/2. They can be exactly the same or you can switch colors, whatever works best with the paper you have. This way everything matches and the pictures stay the focus as they not competing with some of the more really nice mats and frames I've seen. IF you choose to do something more with them, that is okay, but to not expect it from everyone so you are not disappointed.
What do you all think? Maybe Nancy will let me co-host her epcot one and we can have one group who does the kit. I could swap those out. Pretty, pretty please, with sugar and a cherry on top?

Hmmmmm, and I was just liking the kids that I have.... :rotfl2: OK.... sorry... but you knew someone would say it....

I think the slide mount thing sounds cool too. Where do you all get your slide mounts? I saw some great ones on 2peas, 1 was even a card done up with the slide mounts...was SO cute! :teeth:

I like this idea too. I really like get whole page kits, whether or not I use them as a page kit, remains to be seen. I like my stuff to "match".

Ok for the kid issues.. suggestions?? Yes, I was waiting for that!! I have a 13yo DD who thinks so knows more than me, cops her 'tude" and is driving me crazy!!! Any takers???? I'm telling ya boys and girls are VERY different to raise, especially with attitudes.. My boys let things roll off their backs, DD thinks everyone is attacking her when they questions her.. EERRR

I have a sizzix slide mount die.. I just love it!!! Otherwise I have bought them at Jo's and Mike's before... I get my insipirations from 2 peas on the season one..

Okay, for the kid thing-how about we combine our ideas, your kid themed and my boy/girl. We could do the tag/element only groups and a page kit group here too.
Or for a more specific kid theme-how about years (1 yr old, 5 yr old, up to sweet sixteen) I know that makes a large group, but if you are only doing 1 or 2 elements, 16 is a doable number with two groups, 1 boy and 1 girl.
Or school themed elements with books/globes/pencils as the major embellishments?
Or kid sports not related to school ie. swimming, snowball fights, skateboarding, hiking?
Or kid toys- barbie, trains, army men, princesses, toddler toys?
Or kid activities-cell phone talking, tv watching, movie going, putt putt, bowling, doing chores?
Okay that's my brain can think of right now.

good ideas!! Now, if I could just wake up this morning and help you out with this.. maybe do one of these themes every other month.... I love the school themed the best...but that is because these are my happy 8 hours.. DH is at work, kids are at school and I'm on the DIS!

Boy, isn't it amazing how quickly we fall off the wagon! :rotfl2:

I have been talking to StitchIsOurHero (she can't post from the office - stupid firewalls!). Anyway, she and I would like to get on the calendar as co-hosts of a Magic Kingdom and an Animal Kingdom swap. We would like our due date to be February 28. This will be an elements swap (probably two per person) and we are still deciding groups - but think rides, attractions and maybe just "general". If this fits in the calendar, we will post signups on January 2 - what a way to start the new year.

OOHHH, too many ideas.

I will also host a character meal swap. This would be an element swap for the different character meal locations. So, if you do Ohana, you would include elements for Mickey, Pluto, Stitch and Lilo. I will make this one due later, let's say in April, and I will post signups around the end of Feburary.

I can't believe I sat here and read through all 11 pages...I'm officially tired now :faint: but ready to chime in. I really like the pizza box idea. Since I'm out in CA, I'd like to see a Disneyland/DCA swap (I may even host it). Kid's theme would be cool...DD is 4 months right now so I should start thinking about her 1 year album.

I'm interested in so many of the swap ideas everyone suggested...I hope after the holidays swapping doesn't become a "problem" for me. Maybe I should familiarize myself with the SA group just in case.

OK everyone slooowwww ddooowwwwnnnn!!!!

We shall start at the top and work our way down.

Mickeyteacher - do you want me to pick the specific dates? Calendar - 6 or 8 week time frame? How about a March 30 due date? backing up 6 weeks is 2/16; do able?
is the SS going to have 2 mail dates, April and May?
Do you still want to host a newbie park swap or shall I pass the torch to New England Eeyore?

Nancy - do you want to C.H. with AlexWyattMommy for Epcot? we could do 3 groups:
1 & 2 are elements only subgroups(A-Z) of WS and FW
example:
1A ws
1B FW

3 is a kit with a general theme. We could add a 4 for WS if needed.

Are these going to be general or Newbie?

Kids I'm am confused about so I need to think about it more, can we set it to the side for now? too many ideas at once.

KAMommy - let me plug some stuff in and we will see where we are at. K?

15 minutes - welcome!! grab a seat and hold on you're in for a wild ride. :teeth:

That works for me to c-h w/ AWM.. provided she does the kids.. I'm going small this year! :lmao: Yeah, right!
I think general swap to include all since my half would only be elements.. but let's have AWM weigh in on that one..
Also, the kid one was meant to confuse you.. we all have kids so confusion is our middle names!! AWM was throwing out some ideas...
My first thought is to put it aside for now.. iron out the kinks and than decide on one theme.. do it.. chose another theme... so maybe we could start out with a school related them... than go into a sports theme later..

If we want to, we can move the embellie swap to sign ups in Feb 15 due date end of March to make room for other swaps. Doesn't matter to me.

Okay, I'm confused about the Epcot swap. Are there groups based on FW and WS or is it Page kit vs elements?

See Buffy, you got us all hyper again! :hyper:

I am sure that SIOH and I are fine with wherever we might fit in the calendars. We don't want to get to bunched, so we can slide if we need to.

2 groups would be elements only.. and
one additional group would be for those who like page kits...
So those that do elements only would send to me
those who do the kits would send to AlexWyattMommy...

I will take the kids-do I get them just for weekends or holidays too? :rotfl: Okay, so we do elements only for the kids first theme school with a sign up in February? And then do elements only for kids sports theme with a sign up at the end of March?

Yes, all the above.
