Swan & Dolphin Weddings FAQ

Aww sweetie that all sounds wonderful!!!! A red dress will be perfect!!! I will keep my fingers crossed tha it all works out perfectly for you!!! It is all going to be wonderful!!! I am a DVC owner too - my homes are AKV and BLT!!

All the reception venues used by DFTW are also available through Disney's Catered Events, including the Attic. The wedding-dress restriction is imposed on in-park events only; since the Attic is located at the BoardWalk Inn, there is no problem with wearing wedding attire there. :thumbsup2

Hooray!! Carrie to the rescue once again!! Excellent news!!!
i haven't a clue why my mind was wandering down the track of the Attic being in Epcot (and getting all concerned about dresses and things), when I know fine well it is at the BW :crazy2:!!! I must have been having a brain storm (or else I am really getting old and losing it completely)!!!!
Well this is great, now you can get on with your plans without old ladies like me getting all confused and throwing spanners in the works!!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes
Keep us all up to date with your plans sweetie!!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I have a question for those brides that are having or have had a reception at Il Mulino. Are you still having a wedding cake? Looking at all of the menus the price includes a dessert and I think it would be just too much food. I don't want to waste the cake if no one is going to enjoy it. Or have a cake after the ceremony and then no one will want to eat.

Bleh.

I'm confused and lost.

Thank you for your ideas in advance!

We're using Il Mulino and asked about brining our own cake and here is what they told us:

For the $55 menu if we opted to remove dessert it would go down to $50 per person, so the dessert was $5/pp

We were welcome to bring our own cake but there would be a serving fee, I forget the exact amount but seem to think it was $2/pp or $3/pp

Il Mulino has their own bakery and I had the option of having them design a cake for me and in that case there would be no serving fee

In the end we stuck with their desserts. They are really, really good!

Thanks Jillian! I can not wait to hear all about your wedding! After reading your journal from start to finish, I am so excited for you!

We are also having our reception at Il Mulino and at the moment we are planning on having cake straight after the ceremony with an hour or so of drinks and nibbles then after we cut the cake, hubby & I go off to get some pictures then come back for dinner probably just serve an appetiser and entree as I think they will be quite full from cake & nibbles.
Jillian, really looking forward to hearing about your day I hope everything is perfect!

We had them remove dessert from the menu (which brought the price down $5/person as Jilian mentioned) and we had a red velvet cake through the Swan bakery instead. It was quite yummy, but honestly I preferred the groom's cake I ordered from It's Tasty Too (I surprised my DH with the cake at our rehearsal dinner). The cake from ITT was less expensive which makes the cutting/serving fee more doable. I think you'll be happy with whatever you decide to go with! Let us know what you decide on!

Jilian, I can't wait to see the desserts! I'm about to head over to your PJ to find out more now! :)

Hello all,
My name is Juliana and Im originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. My husband and I got married on a small ceremony in Atlanta dec 2011 and after a long thought about getting married at Disney and using the Disney Fairy Tale wedding wishes package, we have opted instead for the Swan and Dolphin.

Im a newbie here and Im still learning how to post on the disboards, but I have been reading many disney boards since december last year, and if it wasnt for all of you I would probably have gone to the DFTW route.
Thanks so very much for all the informative posts and patience !

We have talked to Karen from Just Marry already (since dec 2011) and we are planning on a Vow Renew for 100/150 people on Dec 2012 in the Crescent Terrace and possibly a reception in the Swan ballrooms with a catered meal and a dj (I say "possibly" because we have been struggling to close the contract because of the sales dept at the Swan, I will give you all more details on that later)

For now I just wanted to say hi and wish you all magical pixie dust in your life and on the VR/wedding to come :lovestruc

Hi Juliana sweetie, and welcome to our small but exclusive group of S/D brides!!!
Your VR sounds like it is going to be spectacular!!! Sorry you ar having a few issues with closing the contract and hope it all sorts itself out soon!!!
Looking forward to hearing more of your plans!!

Hi every one :)
Hope I am writing this in the right place
A S&D wedding has been in my mind for a while now, after for me it topped DFTW's in a few places

I was just wondering if any one had an updated list of prices at the moment though for 12/13

I've seen so many different prices floating about, all of which seem to be getting more expensive :( (with each year maybe)

I like the look of the full packages, even though I would add on a few bits

TIA :)

Hi there!!

S/D wedding is the BEST way to get married at WDW! Any and all of us will tell you that-- it's more affordable, more flexible, and less stressful!

Sadly, I am a December 2012 bride and I don't have the updated pricing. BUT, I know we have a couple of 2013 brides who will definitely stop by and hopefully will be able to help you out!!

From what I've gathered, the S/D prices (like the DFTW ones) do increase each year. :(

Hope you join our group of Swalphin Sisters!! :grouphug:

We're trying to book a specific date in February 2013, but the hotel is telling Just Marry they can't green light any weddings for our date due to conventions being booked at the S&D for the same time. We're being told it'll be 2 to 8 weeks before we can verify space for our wedding.

Did anyone else book their wedding at S&D at 8 or 9 months out? Any problems with doing so?

The concerns we have are waiting and then being told no (because the conventions took up all the space) and either sending save the dates our later or sending them out before we have the space booked.

We originally were getting married in December of 2012 and we booked in October 2012. Then we changed the wedding to July of 2012 and we changed the date with Just Marry and the Swan in December.

I would say that the conventions may be the reason that you are not able to get an answer. Just Marry is a separate entity from the Swan even though they work closely together. Just Marry has to wait for the Swan to give them ok on dates because from what I was told there are several different groups them included that try to book and there is one centralized calendar. So they have to check it to make sure it does not conflict and if someone has already requested the space prior to you they may be trying to get a confirmation that those people are a no before allowing you to book.

Not sure if this helps.

At least they don't make you play the lottery like DFTW does.

I doubt you'll have a problem honestly. BUT, I would not send ANYTHING out until you have a date secured with a deposit!

What's the earliest you can book & secure a date at the S&D?
This is something I worry about, having to let all my guests know & save up to fly over and make a holiday of it, I'd like to let them know as soon as I can, but without messing them about (if a date isn't secured)
