Swan & Dolphin Weddings FAQ

You can have an i-pod setup, as the gorgeous Faith has said!!
We had a wonderful and very reasonable harpist. She was brilliant!!! Played what we wanted and the beautiful harp music went very wel with the elegant surroundings of the West Courtyard.

we were concerned about a small i pod set up I was afraid guests would not be able to hear it since we are at crescent terrace. So our planner has secured an AV system set up for us with microphones for reverend Tim and one for greg. It may be overboard but I love music and I don't want that part to be too quiet. It will still be an iPod based set up but with bigger speakers.

We had a harpist at Crescent Terrace-Christine MacPhail-and she was incredible! I don't think she used a microphone, but I'm not 100 percent sure. Our rabbi did not use a microphone and everyone seemed to hear the ceremony just fine. :)

We had our ceremony on Crescent Terrace and had Jennie Rudberg as our violinist (http://www.jenniemusic.com/). She was wonderful and very reasonably priced! With 35 guests and no microphones we were all heard.

As for beverages at Il Mulino, we paid based on consumption (for wine, by the bottle). We picked a red and a white wine to serve and our guests could order beer, soda, tea, etc.

I didn't realize that you had Jennie. We've hired her too along with a guitarist. I'm so happy to hear that you liked her.

We're doing the same at Il Mulino, Erica encouraged us to do BOC because wine is always BOC, even if you pay for open bar.

Hi Ladies,

thank you so much for all the information. I contacted Christine and she was so lovely.

We have tentatively booked our date for 10 September 2013 at Il Mulino Restaurant and then waiting to hear back from Just Marry to confirm our date for the ceremony, it may be a little too far out. But we are so so excited to say we have finally decided to get married at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel!! I cannot wait until all dates are locked in and starting a bit more with you ladies :)

Alright ladies, I need music help! Right now we have a violinist for our ceremony at Crescent Terrace. We're expecting about 40-60 people.

I'm worried that one violinist is going to sound and look kinda of sad with all those people in such a large area. We are considering upgrading to a keyboardist or pricing out other musicians (I'd really like a 3 string group but I'm sure they're $$)... SO, has anyone just had a solo violinist? Can you tell me how it sounded?

Anyone have experience with other musicians, besides the harpist?

I really just want the iPod setup but Max wants live music.

Thanks!

Faith,
So I was struggling with this whole thing too but mine was mostly did I want a wimpy iPod set up or did I want something else so that it was louder for the area. We decided to go with an AV system that is costing us around $450. It will have a wireless microphone for the officiant and for greg so we can be heard and louder speakers for the music. I am just such a HUGE music person that I wanted the music to be heard loud and clear. I play the violin and I can tell you from experience that the loudness is going to be determined by the venue, number of instruments and song selection. The venue is so open it is going to be hard for her to be heard if the song selections are soft. My concern would be that you and your bridal party may not be able to hear your songs to cue you walking into the ceremony because of the size of the place and the walkways. Keep in mind adding another musician means that both of them may have to coordinate together especially if they have never played together before and they may not know the same songs.

Ok I am not sure I helped but that is what I was thinking

Hi Faith! We had a solo violinist, no microphones, etc and it sounded great to us! We had 35 guests with seating up on the raised terrace and the violinist was down below to the left. Also, my brother sang and played a song on the ukulele during the ceremony with no hook up and it was heard by all. With your guest count I'm guessing your seating will be down below and I'd think that they would be able to hear the music just as well. I recall being able to hear the music as soon as I came around the building and started down the aisle to the terrace! Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions. :goodvibes

Hi ladies,we have some great news! We were able to secure the crescent terrace for 10 September 2013 :) Erin my consultant at Just Marry has been so helpful and they were quite surprised that we could book this far in advance ! So we have sent off our signed contract today yah :) just waiting to receive paperwork from Erica of il Mulino to make our tentative hold off our booking and make it a permanent booking!so we have also booked in and sent of contracts for Randy Chapman and STVS videography, we were able to secure a package deal they are offering this year together. As well as Chrstine the harp player.
Plus just finalizing more details for my hair & makeup with Beaute Speciale plus our cake through It's tasty too!
We sent out our save the dates and newsletters last week to our guests so when I get on the computer I can post a few pics!
I can't thank you girls enough for your tips and thoughts! Big Thankyou to you all :)
I cannot believe we are actually getting married at Disney World!!!

Jessie: That's fantastic! I'm so excited for you! It's all coming together! :dancer:

Wow! That's fantastic news!

I spoke with Erin via email and phone and it's like pulling teeth to get any information out of her and she said to not even try to get a date on hold until 9 months out. What secret code word did you give? She said she would answer all my questions and help me with a projected budget, but when I sent her everything I had in mind she was very vague and only gave me a price for extended consultant fee's.

We are looking at October 12, 2013.

Did I just catch her on a bad day?

Marie

Hello, Everyone! :wave2:

Like many of you I came down with a terrible case of sticker shock  when I first looked into the DFTW Escape package for our Vow Renewal. I'm so very glad that I found this thread!

Our 20th wedding anniversary is actually on New Year's Eve, 2014, but because that would be inconvenient -- not to mention more expensive -- for my guests traveling from NJ, I'm thinking about bumping it ahead to Valentine's Day of that year.

My only concern about the outdoor ceremony locations (thinking of Crescent Terrace) is the WEATHER! You never know in Florida! Hopefully the backup location is pretty...

Congratulations to you all; it's so very nice to meet you!

Kathy

Marie, sorry to hear about your experience. I've never worked with Erin so I can't comment. I know that when I got my date a year out Karen sais we could try to see if Swan approved it but she couldn't guarantee. Maybe they are getting more strict?

Welcome Kathy! I see in your sig that you're a spectrum mom, me too. My oldest son has aspergers. Welcome to our swalphin group!
