Swan & Dolphin Weddings FAQ

:laughing:LOL, Sorry for the lack of details, but we have been fighting horrible colds since the day after the wedding, and since coming back home we have been sleeping sooooooooooo much! I am just getting to the unpacking today!

The video was set up by Karen, and the mans name is Paul Duhon. He was really nice, and even helped us with photo spots. I cant report on the video because it takes about 3 months for us to receive it. However Paul himself was very friendly and treated us very well. :thumbsup2

My hair and makeup were done by a great lady from Beaute Speciale. It was a ton of makeup, looks great in the photos, but for up close I was not really happy around my eyes. NOT because she didnt do a great job, its just that Im not used to wearing foundation and all that! She was a blast to have there, very friendly, and makes you feel so special!!! She asks you what you like, and if you have a photo handy she can go from that. If you dont like something, she changes it without a problem.

The fountain was off for the service, I think it would have been too loud otherwise. Still very nice though, and there are lots of fountains inside and out that are on for photo ops.
If you look in my photos, I think its the last one....you can see the view we had from the hospitality suite...looking down on our site. The small table beside the rose petals was for the sand service. (they pack that in bubble wrap and it travels well) You can see a larger table set up to the back (top) of the photo...that was for our champagne/ornage juice table. We scrapped the cake idea as I couldnt find one close to us, and small enough to suit our needs. Worked out well as there was not really time for cake because we ran off for photos.
We had our dinner right there at the Swan in garden Grove (Im sorry, I may be off on the name). We had mediterranean night food (yuuuuuummmy) a desert bar, and they brought us champagne flutes on a tray with strawberries and chocolate "congratulations" syrup.
For the dinner Goofy and Pluto also come around, so for anyone seeking characters it is great!
It was great because everything was "right there" and went really smoothly. Everyone made us feel VERY special. It was perfect, and we are all so happy with how our day went :goodvibes

The people standing with us are my neice and her fiance (getting married in Sept, at home, not Disney). The ring bearer is our 3 year old son Logan...he is our sweetie pie!! He did really great, but he was a little iffy durring the service because my dh cried the entire time, so Logan was worried about what was wrong with daddy...LOL I told him daddy is just really happy :lovestruc

I was totally relaxed for the entire day...it was weird LOL. My neice was nervous, and teared up quite a bit while we were in the suite getting ready. I have really bad anxiety and thought I would be a mess, but I didnt have a problem. The suite had a bathroom with shower and robe and slippers. It blew our mind when we walked in and saw the piano!! You also have a full kitchen with water, teas and coffees. There is also a fridge with drinks available for a fee. There was a stove, but Im not sure what you would cook, unless you plan on using the suite for your entire day. (you do have it available to you from 8am)

I was a bit worried at 10 to 4 because the flowers were held up (due to a grenade being found in the parking lot of the florest shop and they had been evacuated part of the day), and the guys were late. (found out later that they had forgotten the boutineers and had to go back to our hotel).

But once everyone and everything was in place we came downstairs (Karen comes up to your room and talks to you and takes some photos and brings you down) I was great....until I saw Logan in his little suit!
I had a little tear up, and took a moment after my neice and Logan went out to gather myself. I told Karen I was ready, and that was it...I was off!
Walking down the isle was trickey because I had no where to look! LOL I couldnt look at dh becuase he was crying and laughing, I couldnt look at my neice becuase she was doing the same, and I couldnt look at Logan....I was doomed to be crying. I swore on my wedding day I would be happy, sure of myself and laughing, and I was :goodvibes I just looked at Rev. Phill or the ground, and I made it.
When I got to the front Rev Phill said all of the things I had emailed him about, he did a reading I wanted, and it all went off perfectly. Dh kept telling me he was sorry for crying, and we were laughing about it. I couldnt keep looking into his eyes because the love I saw shining on his face was just too much. (sounds really corney, but it was so true.) Have I told you all how perfect it was???? lol

After the service and sand service, they have you do a walk out, like you would with a normal service, then you stop and start talking to everyone and make your way over for your drink/toast and photos.
We followed Paul around to the front of the Dolphin/rear of the Swan for some photos, then back to the westcourtyard to gather our things and say goodbye to everyone. Christine played for the enitre time, and that lady is just so sweet and talented!!! Found out she is also from Canada, and not to far from us!
I cant stress enough how wonderful everyone is! There is nothing or anyone I would change!

The dinner was fantastic, and the staff and characters were great.
After dinner we went into Downtown Disney for photos...and some attention :thumbsup2 lol
Thank you for telling me I looked beautiful and like a princess...I really felt like one!
I also had qutie a few moms coming up to me at the dinner and in DTD telling me their children thought I was a princess. I just made sure to smile big and wave to the children while the moms told them I was a bride.
We ran into a few couples that had been married the year before, and it was great!
We had photos taken in front of the big air balloon, and on the carosel. No wedding here at home could have ever compaired to our day!

The next day we wore our bride & groom ears & t-shirts, and our party wore their hats with bridesmaid, best man, and ring bearer. We spent the day in the magic kingdom and ended the day with the wishes fireworks. WOW, that was when the tears came.....we were all huddled in a circle having a big ol' group cry LOL
Talk about Disney magic.
I hope all of your special days are as magical as ours, and that you all feel as special as we did!!
(sorry I got really long winded there!!) Ill add a couple photos from the magic kingdom to the fb link.

Sorry, in all my gab I didnt answer the question about the makeup...it lasts for 16-18 hours, but did come off with cream easily.
Also, my dh took the photos, and passed off his camera to our bestman. He has just gotten started in the photography business. He set up the camera and the shots just had to be taken. For the shots he is not in, he took those.
We are also having a celebration dinner this saturday here at home with our friends and family, and will have our cake then. I will post photos of it when we get them :)

For some background on us, we have been together for just over 13 years. We have been through many trials together, not the least of which being infertility. Our son was a struggle to have, and is our miracle and our whole world.
We were very blessed to have this opportunity come up, and we are ohhhh so very happy we acted on it!

Thank you so much for the report!! I love reading Swan trip reports! Lets me know what I'm getting myself into...haha!!! I'm so glad everything went so well for you!! :)

Wonderful report Bonita!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to post it and for answering my numerous questions!!
Sorry to hear you have been unwell!!! I know how you feel - as I write I have the most horrendous sore throat:sick:

Beautiful pictures! You looked fabulous. I'm glad you had a great day. Thanks for sharing all of that helpful info with us :goodvibes

I'm new to the wedding board on here. My DF and I are seriously considering having a Swan and Dolphin wedding, and so I am trying to price out all the options. Does anyone know if there is an option for music that is not live music? Life Disney Fairy Tale Wedding CD played during your ceremony?

Welcome to the boards!! I think you really can't go wrong choosing a Swan wedding!!

Are you talking about just playing your cd player/ipod??

Here's an email I got from Karen when I asked her:
In regards to music, we do offer some pre-recorded music selections that we can bring along.
Depending on equipment availability on our end, we would either have a
CD player or iPod with some standard wedding selections. We charge a
$25 rental fee for this.

As another option, you are welcome to bring your own music and
equipment if you prefer. I recommend ensuring that the player you
bring has a battery backup, as power can be occasionally turned off at
the ceremony site. You will also need to identify someone in your
group to press "play" when needed.

Thanks! :)

Yes, that is what I meant. Has anyone here gone with that option or going with it? I wonder if that would take away from the ceremony at all.

I'm going with it. I didn't want to pay for a musician for a quick ceremony. Seemed like a waste of money to me... I don't feel like it will take away from the ceremony. The way I look at it, the money I'm saving by this option means something extra I get to do in Disney!

yep, our service was about 20 minutes long...depends on what you would like said/added.

Ariel864 - Congratulations and welcome to the S/D board. We are a very small (but exclusive) group and always welcome new brides!!!!
Don't hesitate to ask any questions!!! What the girls on here don't know about S/D ceremonies isn't worth knowing!!!
Have you contacted JustMarry yet? If not I really recommend you do. Karen seems to handle all the S/D weddings/VRs and she is an angel (I know the girls will agree!!!). She will give you any information you need without putting you under any obligation!!!

Happy planning and keep us all up to date with all your plans, whatever you decide!!

Thanks! I received my email package from Karen yesterday. Right now we are just trying to run through different options and figure out what is best with our budget. My DF and I met on a professional internship for Disney and so we'd love to get married there if it's possible.

I have a question about WDW park shoots for Swan brides. I was under the impression that you could have a park shoot in your gown as long as it wasn't MK, but when I talked to Karen today, she said she didn't believe that was the case, and that park shoots in wedding attire are strictly for DFTW brides.

Can anyone shed any light on this? TIA! :goodvibes

Hi, you are correct, anywhere but the MK. It is also done before or after the park hours. No wedding attire is allowed in the parks durring the open hours. You can send an email off to wdw.disney.photography@disney.com for the right information and cost. :goodvibes
