Does anyone have any pro's con's about staying at either the Swan/Dolphin over a Disney moderate resort? Do you still get the Disney experience at the Swan Dolphin?

I've stayed at Swan, Dolphin, BWV, BCV, CR, Polynesian, ASMusic, POP, POR. I love the Dolphin..just booked it for my July trip. Now, my dd, 14, thinks the S/D are Disney challenged (her words!!), and would rather stay elsewhere. Her choice is Dolphin vs home!!
Do you miss anything Disney at the S/D? Perhaps. But, I love the atmosphere there. I love the Epcot area resorts. I love the pool area at the S/D.
I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. If you want to be submerged in Disney, 24/7, then you may not be quite as happy at the S/D. You can't use DME there, and you can't charge back to your room, other than at the S/D shops. Those are just minor issues for me.
I don't have to have Mickey on my bedspread to let me know where I am. Likewise, I don't need the Mickey soaps...just love the toiletries at the S/D. I love being able to walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

an educator's discount. That and the fancy beds are the only perks I've heard about. The down side is that you can't use Magic Express and that if you split your stay between two resorts you have to transfer your luggage yourself.

I would pick the Swan/Dolphin over a mod any day. The location is fantastic and oh those heavenly beds! Everytime I have priced out those 2 resorts they have always been $125 per night...FL resident rate

Have stayed at moderate and Dolphin. No doubt in my mind I'd stay at the Dolphin rather than a moderate in a heartbeat. The location itself is GREAT and we LOVE the Dolphin. Enjoy!

The Dolphin wins for location alone. Plus, the beds are great, so many great restaurant choices, the grotto pool rocks, easy access to other hotels (BC/YC and the BWI) and all that they offer. The only place there's not over the top "Disney Magic" is in the room itself (but the rooms are still very nice and much better than mods IMHO) But the grounds, pools, rec, transportation options etc are all equal or better than any mods. It's not like you'll forget you're at WDW while you're staying there....plenty of magic around the Swan/Dolphin to keep you in a Mickey mood:)

Some advantages of staying at a mod are that you can participate in the DDP, charge items to your room key and not have to pay $for parking if you have a rental car. CSR is a lovely resort.

I'd go with the S&D unless you are counting on the DDP or Magical Express. It's basically like a deluxe resort (without the few extra disney perks) and is in the center of everything right near the BW and Y&B, it's not isolated like the mods (where you can't really walk from resort to resort). A big bonus feature for us is that you don't have to take a bus to all of the parks, Epcot is an easy walk and MGM is an easy boat ride away. At the Swan you can also get queen beds, plus there's a lot more restaurants to choose from (compared to the one and the food court at the mods).

I prefer Mods BUT i love the Sushi/karaoke restaurant. Its the best Sushi on property!
