Do you have to be a teacher or just employed by the school district because I'm an admin at a public high school?

It includes teachers and related personnel within a school district. However, I booked with a teacher discount and was just informed on Friday, 9 days before we leave, that they are kicking us out and sending us off-property to the Hyatt Regency. We booked our reservation 11 months ago, leading me to believe that we got the boot because of the discounted room. I'll never book with them again and would highly advise sticking with a Disney-owned resort!

We're still trying to get Starwood (the parent company of Swan/Dolphin) to rectify the situation for us. Hope to hear back tomorrow from them. It's a long story with all the details on the Swan/Dolphin FAQ thread.

My husband is a school administrator and I am a teacher. When my husband made our reservations at the Swan for June, he was told over the phone that his ID would not work and that my ID would have to say "Faculty" or "Teacher". But she also told him that if I could bring my pay stub as long as it had my name, a recent date, and reflected somewhere that I was being paid for instructional duties. I took both with me to be safe and no one ever asked to see anything. We were given the teacher rate with no problem! My parents have gone and stayed at the Dolphin using my mom's ID. She is a paraeducator. Her ID says "staff". She has never had a problem. You can also register as a Starwood Preferred Guest for free on the starwood website or over the phone when you reserve your room. BTW--we loved it there and would go again! We didn't have not one problem and everyone that worked there was very nice and accommodating. My parents feel the same about the Dolphin.

Good luck NJ FabFour, I hope you get your reservations worked out soon. That is certainly not something you want to deal with before vacation. Sorry this is happening to you. I'll send more pixie dust your way.:wizard:

As far as booking reservations, do I understand correctly? I have a valid teaching certificate, but am currently not teaching. I would not qualify for this discount, right? I have never called to check on this because I assumed not.:confused3

it seems like whenever i try to book the govt/nurse/teacher rate, it's never available! and i have mostly been trying to get it during Disney's value season, which I would have assumed would have been an equally less-busy time at the Dolphin and Swan??
