Swan / Dolphin on Hotwire

Jim the www is missing and I lost the link!

chrissyk,
the rate you see doesn't include taxes. If memory serves, you DO get to see your total rate (taxes and hotwire fee included) on the next page before you purchase....someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I know when I bid I saw a 4 star hotel for $76. Then at some point I got a screen that said with all taxes and hotwire fee I would pay $90 and change. And even then, that does NOT include the resort fee that the hotel charges (not all do, but Wyndham Palace, Swan and Dolphin do) You pay that at check out.
So my $76 hotel actually cost about $100. Still a great deal for a good hotel, last minute on a holiday weekend!

Good luck everyone.

You do see the total price (including tax, hotwire's fee) before purchasing off to the left side of the screen.

The price initially shown does not include tax or Hotwires fee. Remember that even if you do not book through Hotwire, however, you will still pay taxes and the resort fee on top of whatever price you are quoted. That, unfortunatly, isn't unique to Hotwire.

Jim

Hi Jim , Ok so if the total ( w/ the taxes and fees ) list one the left side of the Hotwire screen say 457.95 When we check out of the Dolphin we will also have a resort fee of $10 per day ( or something close to that ? ) I am still trying to figure if its worth it to switch from POR to the Dolphin ? Thanks Michelle

bigsis1970--Yes, you will be charged an extra $10 a day on top of your total. It is charged separately as it is not taxed. You'll see the charge on your credit card statement when you return home.

Hi , I just booked it..
$69 hotel = June 15 one night Hilton Inn
$81 hotel = June 16-21st 5 nights Dolphin

Can we call in request or do we need to wait till we check in..?
Can I pay cash for the Resort fee at check out ?
Did I read someplace that the resort fee included the charges to make long distance calls ??
On June 15 I won't be checking in till around Mid night for see any problems with that ???

Thanks everyone Michelle

Good Deal, bigsis1970!

You can usually call in requests ahead of time with the confirmation # you were given. It's also a good idea to call again a day or so before your trip. Room assignments usually aren't made to far in advance, so it's no huge rush :)

The resort fee can be paid at the end of your stay with cash, however they will still need a credit card at the beginning of your stay in case you incur incidentals (room service, mini-bar, etc.). That's pretty much standard with all hotels now I believe.

All Hotwire hotels are guaranteed for late arrival so there shouldn't be any problem with late check-in. I'd call that day sometime just to let them know however.

BTW- The Hilton should work great for a first night hotel. It's no Dolphin, but it is in Downtown Disney, cheap, and MORE than adequate for 1 night.

Jim

Hi Jim, Thanks for all the Information . You have been a great help!
I am traveling w/a friend and also got her to book the same way so we are hoping to get rooms together..( does the Dolphin have Adjoining rooms ? ) A Deluxe for less then our Mod how could you go wrong. I love the EPCOT area too ! quick walks to Boardwalk, Beachs & Cream - need to get some Connection vouchers now for sure !! and Illuminations from the beach !!! YIPPEE oh how the next 2 month will drag on !!

Michelle

I am looking for the Dolphin in Aug 22-29th. I don't see it right now. Is it still to early for the dolphin to release those great rates on hotwire?

Congradulations to everyone who was able to book with those great rates:Pinkbounc !!!

Jim thanks for all the information.:)

Oh Yea , Just a word of Caution if you really prefer the Dolphin over Swan or visa versa .. The $81 per night showing with Restaurant, pool, fit.ctr, bus.ctr, golf near, tennis near and LAUNDRY is the Swan right now .. so to edit my earlier post.. I have one night $69 at the Hilton and 5 nights $81 at the SWAN ..
and the swan doesnt'' have laundry right ?? Michelle

bigsis1970,
So the Swan is coming up with the laundry icon for sure now?? It wasn't last month and I'm pretty sure it does not have laundry, but maybe you are allowed to use the facilities at Dolphin? I'll have to update the list if you can verify that :)

judirain,
I tried your dates and wasn't able to get Swan/Dophin to come up. I'd keep trying back every week or so as you've still got plenty of time.

Another interesting note: Another poster and I, over at my boards, have discovered a 4* boutique hotel in the Main Gate zone, that would appear to be the Celebration Hotel. It comes up for the low 100's. Not a sure thing, but it's the best we can figure.

Jim

Hi Jim, that is correct both myself and a friend have booked for the dates of June 16 to 21st ( with the laundry Icon ) and it came up as the Swan ? (Gosh I hope i can use the laundry facilites at the Dolphin ! ) Michelle

To answer at least a few of your questions from this and the other thread:

I called to verify, and yes Swan/Dolphin guests can utilize all the services at both hotels, including laundry.

Here is a decent link regaurding location questions. It appears you could walk to Epcot quite easily, although I'm not sure about the accuracy of the map. http://www.swandolphin.com/images/explore/location_map2.gif

Oh, and with the Swan, don't forget the Westin Heavenly Beds. They are worth the $81 alone:)

Jim

Hi y'all!

Boy you folks are getting a great deal at the Swan! Congratulations!! I'm envious as my trip isn't for another 18 months!

Just to clarify something, the Swan & Dolphin are "sister" resorts, so all the facilities are shared. You have room charging privileges for anything purchased on either resort (restaurants, gifts, snacks, spa services etc) if you are a guest at one of the hotels.

Check out the "new Swan & Dolphin thread" lots of info there as well as S&D lovers who will offer you great advice.

Enjoy your stay, and let us know how you liked it when you return.

Lisa

I have three children, and would only be permitted to stay at the Dolphin (the Swan only allows 4 people/room - maybe one more if the child is in a crib, which mine aren't). Will it only give me the Dolphin or is there the chance I would win the Swan and not be able to use it???

Betty

Dolphin generally comes up, however Swan IS a possibility. So this option may not be best for you :(

Jim

Thanks Jim,

I should have read all the directions on Hotwire first! They also cannot guarantee one bed vs. two, or non-smoking (which I'd REALLY want), so I guess it's not the right choice for us right now.

Thanks for sharing your info.

Betty

It is great to hear that the S/D is showing up on hotwire! Thanks for the info!

I just booked Dolphin using hotwire for next weekend arriving April 20-24th. All the amenities for Dolphin came up including laundry for $81. With all these reassurances that it is either Swan or Dolphin, I was still nervous about getting Hilton or Wyndham.

My heart was beating a million miles an hour.

I made sure all the amenities were exactly as you listed. I was kind of hoping for the Swan... but the Dolphin at $81 was great too! Much better than my $129 teacher rate that I had already booked.

Thank you, thank you, over $200 savings for the four nights.

I used your link and will write a report.

One last thing, I have been checking Hotwire everyday this week since this thread first began. Dolphin did not show up, only the Wyndham for my dates. I even checked this morning and nothing. Well I checked tonight and well ..... I am doing the happy dance. It looks like Dolphin is available all throughout Easter week for $81.
