Ann--try this...
Start
Control Panel
Double click "faxes and printers"
Click on the printer icon.
You should get a drop down or sumpin' asking what you want to do with it. (In XP, on the left hand side, you get a drop down that includes "Delete this printer", but, I'm not sure which OS you're using, so, it may be different.) Anyway, delete that printer, (if I remember correctly--and I may not, since I"m getting so old--in other OS's, there was an option to "uninstall"--same thing)
and that should get rid of the printer, and the driver. Then, segin the re-installation process, using the new driver you download from HP.
A hint--we created a folder on our desktop titled "downloads" and that is where we put things like drivers, so that they are easy to find).
If this doesn't work--Target has several printers on clearance.
