Two weeks ago we flew from PHX to MCO with a plane change in San Antonio. Heavy rains in Texas so we were delayed getting into San Antonio. When we landed there were no gates available so we waited in a holding area with several other planes. The pilot called it the duck pond. But there was no hurry. DH got a text message from SWA alerting us that our connecting flight had been delayed due to mechanical issues.

They eventually brought in another plane and we ended up being delayed four hours. They mentioned compensation for the delay and I figured we might get a voucher for freebie airport food. Last time I was on a delayed flight due to mechanical problems AA put me up in a hotel, but this time we weren't bumped overnight so I wasn't expecting much. Very surprised that SWA called the passengers to the podium in groups of 6-8 and gave everyone a $100 voucher for a future flight. oh darn.

After our vacation we returned home on a direct flight and landed on time -- yea! -- and discovered that SWA had e-mailed us additional vouchers for $50 each. :thumbsup2

That's awesome! Southwest gave us all $100 voucher in Providence while we had to wait 4 hours due to a broken plane. We didn't have to ask, they just gave it to everyone.

We got $100 each when our flight was delayed for about 3 hours in Orlando. I used it for my flight next March, $124 became $24 (one way).

Southwest offered us $100 vouchers (each passenger) when our flight was delayed a couple of hours last August. It was totally worth it! :thumbsup2

My flight yesterday was overbooked so I volunteered to be bumped to a later flight. Turns out they didn't need me to be bumped but got a $50 voucher for boarding the flight after everyone else had boarded, giving up my A20.

Last year we were flying home to NY. While we were over Virginia the plane turned arround and took us back to MCO. There were high winds in NY and the plane could not land.

I called WDW from the airport and booked a room for the night and then took Magical Express back to the resort. We had no luggage and it was 12 am.

We were lucky enough to get tickets for the first flight out in the am. Unfortunately that meant ME was picking us up at 4am for a 7am flight. Even more unfortunately the bus driver was an hour late so we were out at the bus stop waiting for an extra hour.

A few weeks later we both received a voucher for $80 from SW. That didnt even cover the cost of the room for the night, but we were grateful to get the vouchers. We used them for our next Disney trip.
