Since I have always booked flights with points, I'm wondering...how long does it take for points earned with a flight to post to your account? I paid "cash" (OK, gift cards) for our recent trip and I don't see anything indicating how many points I earned. I booked a rental car on October 20 for our unexpected detour and the 600 points for that has already posted to my account.

Just curious how long it will be before the points for the flights show up.

Points have always posted for me within 48 hours after the flight landed. Elite status sometimes takes an addition day if the points qualify for a higher status.

Hmmm...that's interesting because I still don't have credit for our flight on the 15th. I'll give them some leeway on our return flight due to the delay resulting in a flight change to avoid a missed connection, but it has been over a week since our outbound flight.

I would contact them, they should have posted. Are you sure your RR# was on the reservation? Maybe with all the problems you had it got deleted.

I agree Debbie....We just had an issue with points not posting for our Oct trip but hadn't noticed it with all the other activity....we called this morning and he was able to get it straightened out. We LUV SWA!
We are all trained now "not to call". Call! They are so helpful!

I called (a while ago) and got a little clarification, but not a lot of help.

SO, apparently what happened is this:

I booked a round-trip itinerary and received a credit when I changed my flight due to a decrease in fare. When I changed my flight again (to try and use up as much of the credit as I could), I still have some unused ticketless travel funds tied to the itinerary. The rep told me that the itinerary will not be considered "complete" until the credit is either used up or expires. That means, the points that I earned (~1400) will not credit to my account until May, which is when the tickets were originally bought.

Our next flight is not planned until October 2016, but the flights will open up in February. Those 1400 points are really important because I will be about 1000 points short of what I need and I'd really rather not buy them since I have already "earned" them anyways.

I guess I will be calling back and escalating this to a supervisor to see if the itinerary can be "force closed" or something...

Why not buy something from the RR shopping portal. I see if you buy a 2 months subscription to the Wall Street Journal for $1 you will get 1100 RR points
