SWA prices are terrible!

not going at the same time as last year but just checked from Islip,LI to Orlando the flights started out $10 more than last year for the 3rd week in August......last year I booked as soon as the flights opened up for that week and they never went down.....my sister-in-law who wanted to travel the same dates....Sat-Sat...wound up booking a Tues-Mon stay since she thought the flights would go down

Don't forget - Southwest prices INCLUDE luggage fees. On most of the other airlines, you have to pay per bag checked. When comparing SW prices to other airlines, don't forget to add in luggage fees if you plan to check your bags.

I agree. They adverstise...BAGS FLY FREE. But really, they raise their fares to include the luggage cost but adverstise it seperately. Go figure !!

The ones we booked on Tuesday keep going up. We booked at $79 each way and they are now $130 each way. We saved over $300 by booking right away.

Yeah.

I paid $72 one way, a few days ago, and it's $109, now.

If SW raises their prices and still sells out the plane, why would they go back and lower them. The only control you have over their business is to not fly their airline. Complaining here will do nothing to lower prices. JMO

I found SW out of ISP to be $89 during the week and $109 on Sunday in September. I have paid less in the past but thats no bad. Out of JFK, JB was getting about the same. IMO I would take ISP. I love JB for long flights with the TV but for a short flight, security ,baggage and no runway delays at ISP blow away JFK

Good thing I purchased the day the fare came out
because the same RT flights are up $70.00 plus I go non-stop on both.
All the other Airlines that flight out of Denver were higher to
begin with plus I would have to pay for bagage and no non-stop flights.

my prices were high the day they were released! Crazy part is that I can fly across the entire country for only a little more than my price to Florida!

I have noticed SWA's fares are higher than in past years. I"m fortunate my mom and I had a rapid rewards award so we both were able to have free roundtrip tickets. I booked 2 days ago when the award was put into my account!!

It's saving us a lot of money.

My advice. Keep checking. The lowest I saw out of OMA to MCO was $99 and that was only for a couple hours.

If you see a decent fare, grab it.

Our prices for late August are $40 more per person than last year! Anyone think they will drop if I wait or else I may have to just decide to vacation close to home this year!

Dont forget... SWA does NOT charge baggage fees, so they have to make up that income in ticket pricing.

I just checked SW for my trip in August from BWI to MCO. The whole month of August the cheapest flight is $109. Sure hope it goes down at some point.:worship: Even though that is not too expensive, I think I got spoiled with paying the $59 last year.

I paid $556.80 out of Buf last year for 4 of us..this year it is( as of right now) $1017 + staying over night before and after, so it looks like I may be flying out of Toronto prices are the same when I factor everything in....lol!!! Oh well it was great while it lasted!!!!

We flew out of Buffalo last September and paid just over $600 for the 4 of us this year we're going in August and for the days and flights we want we're looking at paying more than twice that amount :confused3 Hopefully come down soon...as we've got a credit with Southwest due to a cancelled trip in Janaury.

and we actually found really good deals on SWA this year. We're flying July 4th-July 12th from LAX-MCO and we got $315 RT per person.

Considering everyone else had prices beginning at $400 RT (Jet Blue wanted $480 RT) we'll take the $315

but it does hurt though because this is our first trip to orlando since we moved from virginia to california so we were used to paying between $100 and $130 RT and now we're paying more than that one way.

Tiggs14...Hope your prices go down. I am actually waiting for my neighbour (sp...having a brain freeze) to get me a good price she works at TO airport. Right now she can get it for $436. CAN, but she wants to wait to see if she can get it for lower....oh yeah that is for the 4 of us return taxes in....how mucher lower does she want?!?! But she is damned and determined so I will wait a few days then tell her to book it!!!! Knowing my luck it will go up...:rotfl:

P.S. Where is Ontario are you from?

Prices will be high right now because we are in a "Holiday Season" time (Easter) after this settles you will see prices come down. Just check as often as you can. SW comes down alot but you have to be patient. Keep trying as often as possible especially Tuesday's thru Thursday's when the web specials come out. Trust me... it will pay off for you!:surfweb:

In our local CT paper it stated that SW was cutting flights in CT and RI. I can't see the prices going down with fewer flights.
