SWA prices are terrible!

The number of nonstops from BDL to MCO went from 3 to 2 and nonstops to Tampa will be only one. They did add nonstop to Denver according to the article. SW is responding to both the economy and seasonal changes. I hate change!:sad2:

I watched my flights out of ISP go from $89 per leg, to $109 (outbound) and $134 (return) since the fares opened up last Tuesday.

I'm flying over Labor Day. I gotta think the flights are gonna go down again, so I will wait.

Not patiently, but I will wait. At least until tomorrow.

So I a freaking out a bit. WE are scheduled to be in a BLT 2 bdr 8/22- 8/27. The airfare from Long Island is just terrible. Southwest "I wanna get away" non stop have sold out? What does this mean? So the price now is $292 on way!!!!! Will I ever get a reasonable price. Last time is was $59 one way and $99 the other. It figures that this is the trip we are treating my MIL, FIL and neice. Any help would be appreciated

Being on the west coast I have never found the combination of price and schedule that I needed for a Florida trip from SWA...that includes Orlando, Ft Lauderdale and Miami. SWA sucks for domestic transcontinental flights from the west coast.

I really lucked out with non-stop flights on Alaska Air this trip though - $260 RT from Seattle in September! :woohoo: Those flights have been running around $460-470. It's the best deal I've had to Florida since 2006 when we had $185 RT. I just kept checking kayak.com until I found the price I wanted. :surfweb:

Good Luck!

Even though we booked at $59 ow, I still check prices daily. We are flying in June out of Columbus. Price started at $85, went down to $59, up to $85, up to $109 and today it's back at $85 again. I really hope it goes to $59 again and I can rebook a day earlier. :)

SWA went down a bit from PVD to MCO today. Still not really the price I want, but I'm a bit concerned they may not come down more since my dates are around Columbus Day weekend. If I want to come home on Wed. instead of Tue. I would save $43 pp, but I just don't think I can take the extra day off. I hate playing the will it or won't it come down airfare game! I may have to bite the bullet & pay the higher fare. I can always get a credit if they come down. Just not sure I'll have another trip planned to take advantage of using the credit before it expires. Decisions, decisions! :scratchin

We're in the same boat. I noticed the flights from PVD went down a bit today too. Really wish they'd come down more though. They're much higher than we've paid in the past. :sad2: I'm worried that if we continue to wait they may only go up not down. We ended up with a credit last time but it will expire before our trip in August. Very frustrating! So I really don't want to end up with another credit I can't use. Wish I knew what to do. :confused3

I'm so glad to hear there are others like me! Good luck making your decision. May you get the best fare! :wizard:

Good Luck to you too!! Hope we both make the decisions that result in the lowest possible fares! Maybe some pixiedust will help. pixiedust:

We bought our flights TO Orlando- $82 per person. I"m holding off on the return flight still... probably until summer. We're going in October, and flights seem to drop for a short amount of time 3-4 months out before going back up again.

Our air out of Louisville was an oddity this year. Started out at $116/ow (about what we usually end up paying--maybe a little less), then dropped to $99 (which I bought), then dropped again to $79 (needless to say, I rebooked and took the almost $300 credit)! Our air ended up being $179pp r/t, which for us is amazingly low. Usually we are well over $200pp. Considering there are 6 of us flying this year, I couldn't have asked for a better year for this to happen.

I bit the bullet and bought mine this morning, MHT to MCO for $109 each way for July - Weds to Weds. PVD was the same price, but I liked MHT's times better. I figured if they do come down, I'll have a credit to use for just me and the husband, kids are old enough to stay home. Even though I worry more now that they are 20 and 18 as to what they'll do when we aren't home. :scared1:

I have set my price at $215-$225 round trip. I am willing to leave out of Dulles, Baltimore or even Pittsburgh. We are going June 20-26. If I book the 21st-28th I can get those prices, but hubby can't miss another day of work. I will be checking often now because our tax refund is due back in May. So I can pay for it.

I decided to take the plunge and buy tickets this week for an August trip. Yes, tickets could have been cheaper but considering we are flying in August on a Friday, I doubt they will go down much. I was more afraid they would go up since some of their other flights during that time frame were rising. Now to not torture myself checking the price regularly to make sure I got a decent deal! :upsidedow
