SWA and ME

just gave my TA our flight info for ME. She said SWA does not have an agreement w/Disney and that we will have to claim our bags from the baggage carousel ourselves and then take them to the ME area. Anyone with experience help here?

Your TA is mistaken, check the sticky on top of this page for details on "participating airline".

In a nutshell, every airline participates on the arrival from your airport to MCO. When you get your package in the mail with the vouchers and luggage tags for ME (about 2 wks prior to the trip) just follow the instructions. If you choose to have ME transport your luggage attache the yellow luggage tags and check your bags as you normally would. When you arrive to MCO proceed to the ME check in, board your bus and your luggage will be delivered to your room. It can take up to 4 hours for the luggage so be sure to pack a day bag as a carryon.

When you are leaving the resort for MCO that is when SWA dosen't participate. You will get information on your ME departure time the day prior to your flight. Simply bring your luggage with you to the ME bus, the driver will load it in the luggage bin underneath and take you to MCO. Check your bags as you normally would.

OP, it's important for you and your TA to realize that your DME packet will be sent to the travel agency and not to you. It's up to your TA to get it to you, or to alert you it's in so you can pick it up.

I had a very clueless TA. I used DME on its 4th day of operation. She knew NOTHING about it, and I taught her. Back then, there were printing and shipping problems with the DME packets. She received my DME packet 2 days before I left. She mailed it to me snail mail, not knowing that it was important stuff. Her office is 150 miles from my house, and luckily I received it the next day, about 15 hours before I left for the airport.

Your instincts were right. Trust this board. Even if you get any BAD info here, you'll have 10 other posters jumping in with the correct info.

My TA is constantly amazed at my "fountain of Information"!! Ok, I take credit for it most of the time! Can't wait to call her with this little nugget. "Just so you have correct information for your next client..."

I swore last time I'd never use a TA again, but it was the only way to get the AAA room discount with the package at the time. Barbara has really tried to be helpful. It's not her fault I have connections in high places.
