I heard a story once that I often think about now when I am tempted to be judgemental. A friend was flying back from LAX to the East and happend to be seated next to a child a Mother and baby. The man, who wanted to sit and have a quiet read or rest on the plane was constantly interrupted by the child's questions and comments and game activities, fidgeting etc.
The man found himself getting annoyed and impatient with the child and resenting that they had sit next to him. After all, why was the mother letting this child annoy him? Why was the Mother seeming to ignore this child? About half way into the flight the little boy blurted out that his daddy was up in heaven. It seems the boy's father had just died and they were on their way to his funeral..
This happens to be a flight story but I apply to this to all situations. When I am tempted to pre judge or get annoyed with someone, I try to tell myself that no one knows what the other person may be going through. I admit this is hard to do when faced with some ignorant people and situations. You just never know what another is going thru.
