I was responding to a post about rope drop and I had a thought about how MM/EMH works.

A long time ago in a Kingdom far away...Disneyland used to have MM/EMH 4 days a week on Sun, Tues, Thurs, & Sat. After DCA became more popular with Carsland they introduced the EMH only for DCA with Mon, Wed, Fri and stole the Sunday from DL and gave it to DCA. (Note there was even a period of time when APs could pre register for a special MM to DCA to experience Carsland).

Now Disneyland only has MM 3 days a week. But the crowds get busier every year and so MM is even more crowded. I was thinking that with SW:GE opening at DL that they might want to have 4 days of MM/EMH at Disneyland again with access to SW:GE added in addition to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. This would certainly add even more desirability to their expensive hotels and the 3+ day tickets.

I could see them potentially doing away with Magic morning and only having EMH and potentially extending EMH as part of good neighbor packages especially with the new hotel coming online in a few years.

I hope they get rid of mm! It’s useless most of the time. I didn’t realize they got rid of a day. That probably made it worse. Too many people. Too few things open.

If they gave a day back and opened SW during MM it might help. I'm more worried it could become a hotel only peek after the 4th hotel opens.

That might be more of an incentive for people to buy 3 days tickets over 2 day tickets for earlier access into Star Wars though which won’t help the existing crowds during MM/EMH problem.

It has never provided incentive for me. I’ve honestly never known why they did that.

very interesting observation....what if only 5 day tickets had access to MM, thus covering the hidden additional cost of entering SWGE, buy the 5 day visit for only three days, enter early on the T day to SWGE, pay that extra cost for the advantage of entering an area that has crowd control restriction. The beauty of the 5 day ticket is that 1:00 to 6:00 crowding could be eased by folks with 5 day tickets going back to lodging during those hours, scheduling their Maxpass for the evening and entering into Disneyland that run out of regular fastpass long before Maxpass, frustrating visitors to leave early.... I am still angling that SWGE will require an extra cost and charging for the MM would solve that problem. And visiting Disneyland for 5 days would be a vacation, an exclusive vacation for the folks who can afford the structure of a 5 day visit.

Aloha,

There have been times when DLR offered EMH for both parks for all seven days of the week. Perhaps that will do that with SWL opening.

As for me and my family, EMH is critical for us. We stay onsite for EMH and use RD at 7 AM every day (trips scheduled with regular 8 AM openings). The parks are so refreshing and enjoyable during EMH and the first few hours of the day.

Well, if this summer is any indication, you can no longer count on those nice 7:00 EMHs every day. Of late, park hours Friday-Sunday are starting at 9:00 with EMH at 8:00. There are a few weekend 8:00 opens in July, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to them. M-Th are still 8:00 opens, though. It's weird.

Gosh I hope they do! Everyone else can rush to get a 3 hour SWL wait instead of the 6 it will run later in the day and I can walk onto all my favorite Tomorrowland and Fantasyland rides :D (Except Peter Pan because even in my dream world Peter Pan is still a 45 min wait :rotfl2: )

That's a good idea. Especially when Marvel opens the following summer. I think it would be nice if they let ticket guests choose which park to use their MM at on any one day of their trip. Some families might opt for DCA since Carsland is so kid friendly. But thinking that has also got me thinking they could flip MM for ticket guests to DCA only and leave the MM at DL to hotel guests only. That would be quite the change .

I agree. I am looking forward to doing 7am opening. We almost always do AM EMH at WDW and find it useful. The 7am opening at WDW is really great. You Just have to willing to get up that early.

Ugh all these changes for SWGE sound exhausting already and we don't even care about Star Wars. We always use our MM (7am on Halloween party weekdays is awesome! Castle picture and pumpkin picture with NO ONE in either!)

Well this is not something Disney has announced. Just me wondering aloud.

THIS is why we decided to buy VGC, plus we'll have APs (without MM!).
