SW Flights are up: Go get em.

Thanks!

yeah, sorta. When you go in to cancel, it asks you if you want to book another flight...you just select the one you already have, and then they give you the credits. You have a year to use them...just make sure you save your confirmation number, as you will need that to use the credits next time.

I feel the same way. We are also coming home Labor Day weekend (that Sunday out of Islip, and for the nonstop, later flight they want $170.00 YIKES!:scared1:) I am thinking of booking my flight down at $129.00 and holding out for the return in hopes it comes down. Maybe I'll luck out and my flight down will drop and I can use the credit toward my flight home. All this is giving me a :headache:!

LOL
See I was thinking the other way
I bought it at 170
Im hoping the flight price goes down so I can snag a credit and then if the going at 129 goes down, book that one and use some of the credits

We are getting off the Dream Ship the 4th, so we have to fly home that day at that time..
Kids have school..

If our flight goes down, how do we go about getting the credit? Do you have to cancel and rebook?

You don't even need to cancel, you use the SWA change flight function. You "change" to the same flight you had before, but at the new price. Then your confirm number is credited with the travel funds.

I tend to check SWA's site almost every day as their prices change all the time. If they go down you can swoop in and get your travel funds.

Hmmm, I wonder if your thought is a better idea. Last year I waited to book my return flight and it dropped to 134.00. If this happened, then you can use the credit to book your flight down (but hopefully that price hasn't gone up and there is availability-what to do :confused3)

I'm looking at the same thing - flights down are $129 and the last flight coming back is $170 ($148 for earlier in the day). Our dates are 8/26 - 9/3. I live real close to JFK, but like to fly SW out of Islip. It's usually A LOT cheaper, plus I have relatives real close to the airport and I can leave the car with them. This is very disappointing.

Yup, we are in the same boat. We leave on the 22nd of August and come home on 9/4. Our flight prices are the same. And to boot, in the past we have taken a 7:25 pm flight out on the Sunday before Labor Day but it appears they have dicontinued that flight . The next latest flight is 5:55, still not bad but it leaves us less time for a day in the parks.

We are further away from JFK, we are in Centereach and have no one to leave our car with. I also checked for flights home landing at JFK, but I did not find any bargains, only a few bucks cheaper but then I have the cost of getting home and added travel, so the few bucks in savings gets eaten up in other costs.

We took that 7:25pm flight back on Sunday before Labor Day last year. I need to get back a day earlier this year though. I wish they had later flights coming back, but oh well. The last one on Saturday is 6:50, so only a half-hour difference.

Not sure what we'll do . SW is basically the same price as JetBlue out of JFK - which is very convenient for us. Delta actually has the cheapest, but it will even out with the baggage fees. I need to find out if JetBlue will give you credits like SW, if the price of your flight goes down - I doubt it. We're going back down for a Disney Cruise next year, so if we just book SW now, and the prices do come down at some point, we can use the crdits for our flights next year.

Looks like alot of us are flying home that weekend..
Jetblue last time I looked charged 100 dollars to change flights.
so not worth it

I dont know if I made the right choice, but its done

My thinking was
The last few years we have flown home over labor day weekend (never at this high of a price)

The prices never went down..
Who knows they might this year, but if they dont
At least I have the flight back, I cant change that one.
We are getting off the cruise that day, so thats our only option
Going down, Its a Sat. Our flight times are more flexable. Hopefully they will have some kind of a sale

I hope I made the right choice..
Only time will tell..

We'll be going down next year but not until August. If I book now, that means I have to use my credit(should I get one) by this date next year which doesn't work. In the past, I use to trade my credits with the lady who cuts my hair, but SWA has or is changing that rule. So now it doesn't pay for me to have credits (we only fly down 1x a year).

I am glad at least it will work for you should you get credits :cool1:. If you come up with a brain storm or if you see other great price options, please do share!

:cool1:September 28th-going down for the October 1st 5k in MK- waiting to book return- when does October 1st open? The waiting starts again! haha

DH and I are running in it as well :goodvibes

Got our flights down for $155 out of STL...not very happy, was hoping for 129 or less (last time lucked in to $89!!). Good news is that since we're not returning until Oct, we can hope these go down and use the credit to buy the return. Time to wait again....popcorn::

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I am also thinking of booking the $170.00 flights. Like you said, at least you will have your flight home. Like you, we are more flexable with our flight time leaving so maybe I'll hold off on that and hope that the $170.00 flights drop, get a credit and book our flight down (hopefully that won't go up, it is at $129.00 right now) (we fly out on Monday which is not a high demand day like Labor Day Weekend) and we probably have time to book that date.

I wish us all luck!!!

Our cruise is in Aug 2012, so we're not going down until Aug next year also The credits are good for one year, correct? So the question is, is it one year from the original booking, or one year from the day you receive the credit? Let's say the price drops two months from now on April 10. Do I have until April 10, 2012 to use the credit?

It's one year from the booking date unfortunately.

Unfortunately, it is one year from the purchase date (booking date), not 1 year from the date of your actual flight. Be Careful!!! Now, I am not sure if they still offer it, but, for a $50.00 fee, they would extend the expiration date of your credit. I am not sure how you go about doing this though.

We are doing the race too! This will be DH's first race. But we are taking a quick trip just Sept 29- Oct 2. I really hope that the price does not include a tix to Mickey's party on Sunday as we will most likely be on the way home by then.

We usually get PHL to MCO for around $85 and I decided to book the $135 flight as the time was great and nonstop. All summer flights from PHL to MCO are $135, every day, every time. So I am hoping that the Sept flight drops eventually.

I love SW due to the ability to change flights easily. I can not imagine having to be afraid to pay a change fee, let alone a baggage fee.

I was actually contemplating driving down, but I spoke to DH a little while ago, and he is so not into that, but he is not into paying over $900.00 round trip for 3 to fly.

So, I think I am going to book the flight home (Labor Day weekend) with the hefty price tag. I am concerned that I will get shut out with no way to get home as this is a very busy traveling holiday. Then, wait and hope for a drop in price, and hopefully use credit to book my flight down which is a Monday.

Picked up our August flights from Milwaukee to Orlando today for 119 each way R/T. Not bad. However, I did notice that they have got rid of one of their non-stop flights, so that there is only 1 now. It made the return flight a little earlier in the day than I would have liked. It almost made me pick Airtran because of that, but then I don't want to pay baggage fees with Airtran (going for 10 days, I know we'll have checkable luggage).

Vellamint, you wouldn't happen to know how much it would cost to drive from Long Island, round trip with? I am seriously thinking of driving.

No sorry....although it is on my bucket list (trully!) I have not attempted this yet.

I too am wondering when Jetblue opens up for my dates......I really dont like to take Delta due to their track record of changing my seats/flights after booking.

UGH! These are not the fares I was hoping for... to get the flights I would like to get cost $1297 for the four of us (about $100 less if I choose flights I don't want). Tampa was no better.

USAir is currently showing about $950 for 4, but then I need to add $150 for my bags to come with me (plus I don't get the advantage of being able to change flights if needed).

I'm taking the wait and see approach - we are seriously considering driving this year if we can't fly for less than $1000.
