SW and missed connection

We leave midday tomorrow, no weather issues that I know of. We are flying thru Vegas which I thought would be safe weatherwise. All this week my originating flight has been late enough that we would've missed the connecting flight, so I'm not holding out much hope for tomorrow either. I have no idea why the delays. Does anyone know if/how SW will help if this happens? They only have 2 direct flights to MCO and both are completely booked including ours. It was foolish of me to book with only a 55 min. layover and during the holidays! At least we have travel insurance, so I'm checking other airline's flights in case we have to resort to that.

How late are we talking? An hour or just getting in late and you'll have to hustle across the airport? Call and express your concern and see what they have to say? If it's close sometimes they will hold a plane at the gate waiting for connecting passengers. A 55 minute layover is usually long enough, but it's not a lot of extra time especially with the SW boarding process.

Reason for delays today is that is big snow storm in Chicago which is a major connection point for SWA.

SWA is very good about working with folks who have missed connections. Just be NICE to them. They can not control Mother Nature so no need to take it out on the customer service rep

A lot of area's have been experiencing high wind warnings. I know Seattle had 70 mph winds this week. Cleveland had 50 mph winds. Denver had 2 foot of snow this week.

SW will do their best to get you on the next flight if you miss your connection. Remember to call SW and get in line for a customer service agent at the airport. You may get thru quicker by calling.

I've been on SW planes that have been held waiting for connecting passengers.

When we completely missed out plane with SW they switched our tickets for another flight to get us to Orlando. We originally had direct flights but after missing it we were given connecting flights. It also sucked cause instead of getting there at 1pm like planned we got to disney at 1am. However, I was impressed with how fast SW switched our flight tickets and did not charge us anymore money even though the reason we missed our flight was completely our fault.

They will do their best to book you on the next available flights. If it's not till the next day, they are not responsible for your lodging but will often make arrangements with local hotels to offer you discounts. Unfortunately there will probably be a whole lot of people in your same circumstances so I doubt they will offer much 'pixie' dust. Hope it works out for you guys.
