Hello!

On most of our past trips, we have gone to 1900 PF and they have had sushi at the buffet. Last trip, they didn't have it. Can anyone tell me if they have seen it on a recent trip? It was mostly tuna and California rolls. They were so yummy and it was a nice switch from the typical buffet offerings...

Thanks!

I'm a huge sushi fan and eat it at least twice a week. With that said, I'm not so sure I'm willing to eat sushi sitting on a buffet table in or out of WDW. I'd be concerned not only of the quality of the sushi, but the temperature of it sitting out as well. :goodvibes:confused3

Generally speaking, I would be worried too, but it's a very nice restaurant and the sushi is made fresh and brought out, and it really doesn't sit around for long. Also, it's really just the California and veggie rolls, so no sashimi or nigiri sitting around. It's quick turn-around and kept cool. It was really nice and I hope they haven't discontinued it!

I don't remember seeing sushi in July...but I don't like sushi, so maybe I overlooked it?

I'll be eating there later this month and can check.

I know there wasn't any sushi when we ate there in mid-June.

1) I heard it went bye-bye due to cost.
. . . it takes an extra person to cut sushi
. . . if done properly, this could be a full-time person
. . . reducing kitchen staff by one person is a big deal at WDW
2) Too expensive versus DDP reimbursements.
. . . reimbursement rates for DDP are set in October for Disney eateries and December for non-Disney
. . . they do not change during the year
. . . so, food/labor cost increases are absorbed the eatery
. . . or the food item size must be adjusted or dropped all together
. . . restaurant managers are responsible for profit & loss
. . . and, DDP is beneficial/profitable for Disney, and NOT the guest
3) But, one never knows if it comes back.
