Survivor - Vanuatu

First, lemme agree on the topic of Scout....if she has a bum knee (or whatever), how far does she think she is going to get in the game? Once it's individual immunity, she's a goner.....especially if it's a physical immunity. Also, Home Cafe commercials on right after reward challenge....hhhmmm, big sponsor there! We figure they have a generator or cord running out of the back of that stump....IMHO-a VERY good reward! Never been done before! Now, if they could just reward some electric blankets...:scratchin LOL....Also, did anyone notice the RC and IC were earlier in the game this time? Usually the slingshot and carrying something full of water is an individual thing....you remember? Shooting out the other players plate or mask? We were watching and I mentioned this to DH and he was like "oh yeah. that's usually an individual challenge they do later in the game"..... kind of makes you wonder if they have new challenges in store for the individual immunity challenges?? :scratchin

I don't particularly care for any of them , except for maybe Twila and Chad. At least I have "Lost" this season to look forward to each week.:D

I don't think the teams have to be merged to have jury members. The jury is made up of the last 9 voted off, what difference would it make if they were on a team, or individual?

From the previews, it looks like the merge will be expected, but won't happen next week.

I think a lot of the logic behind a merge (or combining) is, if you're on the jury, you want to know something about the people who are the finalists--if they've always been in the "other" camp, how can you know whether you want ot vote for them? But, they could combine camps without merging.

They have one more week until the person voted off is on the jury. They are at 10 now so next weeks person will not be on the jury. I don't think they are going to merge and play for individual immunity until at least 9 players.

I think the coffee is going to Rory's head, he seems to think he has more power than he has. Sitting there talking about voting Ami off...I don't think so.

Why not? I think the coffee is making him smarter and I totally agree with what he said about Ami being number one on his hit list. (She had the chance to vote him off and didn't and she had the chance to make an alliance with him and didn't). I just hope he doesn't forget he said that.

As for Scout, that's just like what they did last season in All-Star for that one challenge when they had to walk across those beams (when that whole Richard and Sue incident occurred ) and everyone kept stepping down so Rob could keep going. If they weren't wrong, why is Scout?
And as for her parter, well that sure came up last night. I think it was cute how they did the pictures, though.

Finally, in the reward challenge when Leann forgot the jar, was moving slowly, and then fell- it seemed like too many coincidences- any thoughts?

Oh and I have to admit Julie is smarter then I gave her credit for when she said that to Twila about the guys promising her Final 4 too. Good move.

I think it was smart of Scout to do that (spill her juice on purpose). She was very good at the slingshot challenge, so I give her credit for that. If you know your weaknesses, and are allowed to not compete like that, why not take advantage of it to better your team? Like someone pointed out, they totally did that with Rob on the balance bean in All Stars.

Found this on a Survivor message board. Apparently a bunch of people followed Scout's lead, but it was edited out. I had no problem with anyone doing this, but felt that there should have been some kind of penalty. What's the point of having a team, if you're not going to play as one?

On Survivor Live today John said that actually, all the old guys did it once, and sucked so bad they all dumped theirs out too so that it was just John and Julie running for Lopevi. So basically it seems like pretty much everyone was worthless in that challenge except Ami, John and Julie

Ok since this is the survivor thread...... I had to post and show you all my DD in her halloween costume ! She wouldn't smile in this pic. because she thinks the people are boring this season. LOL :teeth:

oops - posted in the wrong spot!
sorry

We all shouted with Julie almost fell with the jar of juice after
forgetting it at first. The signs of exhaustion, no doubt.

Scout is one smart cookie for dumping her juice right away.
The ultimate sacrifice for the team! It worked!

Great costume PoohBear!

::yes:: These people are so BORING. I wonder if there are new editors on the show this season that just don't "get it". Something is lacking on this show. There's really no "hero" or "villian". Mostly it's people sitting around and agreeing with each other. They must have SOME personality. I bet the show would have been totally different if the younger guys hadn't been voted off so early.

I think the longer the show is on, the more the players have control over the game (at least en masse) as compared to the producers. It then becomes a challenge for the game to remain interesting. Just comparing this season to previous seasons, there is clearly more screen-time focus on the challenges, rather than on what goes on in the camps, an indication to me that the players really have realized that drama-in-camp is counter-productive to winning the game. The players know that they cannot let themselves become "the villain" or "the bombshell" or "the hunk" or "the (complainer)," and have a hope of winning, so that won't happen much anymore. I do think that many of the stereotypes that make good "characters" have already been used, and so even if the producers tried to cast for a new "character" it would be difficult to do so without appearing derivative.

That's why the producers need to continually switch the game around, pull the rug out under the players so that they lose control over the game, putting that control back in the hands of the producers. I think, eventually, to get the drama back into the camps, they'll have to change the game again, and we saw a bit of this idea in Ruper's $1M: Specifically, have the game restructured so that the audience can participate a bit more.

It's possible that the producers are fooled by the audition tapes. Remember the girl, she was on Survivor a couple of seasons ago, her audition tape had her naked with a fish in her mouth or something like that. The people choosing the contestants thought that she would be a addition to the Survivor show and she ended up being a dud. Of course, I'm sure there are probably in person auditions after the tapes but you never know how you are really going to act until you get into that situation. They were starting to play Rory up to be obnoxious and then, all of a sudden, he's not so bad after all. Maybe there's not a cut and dried villian like Boston Rob or that used car salesman, Brian?, this time like there has been in the past.

I also find this bunch boring. Nobody stands out at all. I honestly don't care who wins this one at all. Usually, there's one or two that I absolutely do not want to win. :confused3

I don't Lea (Sarge) I think he's obnoxious and bit outspoken but in a stupid way. I like how "Yasur will give us a run for our money but they won't win Immunity" he's eating crow now, not crossiants :teeth:

I didn't like Mia either. The rest are just boring, yawwwwnnnn

P.P.S. I just went back and watched, it definitely looks like a black cord going right into a white colored outlet in the tree stump.

So much for reality TV. I wonder what else could be camouflaged?

I don't see any need for camouflaging. The reward was for coffee, and so coffee was provided. Battery-operated vs. plug-in -- what is the difference?

So why hide the power pack in a fake tree stump? Why not put it out there for everyone to see?
