Survivor - Guatemala

There were a few louds whoops of surprise last night when Steph and Bobby Jon walked out! We were expecting natives! DH was on the phone and did we get the look!

We all think that Bobby Jon would be the first to go if he were on our tribe. How can you keep someone on your tribe who has done nothing but lose? Yes, he is strong - although he did not look it last night. But he does not make good decisions. Remember when he just kept stuffing those birds in his mouth??

That was just a cruel and gruelling challenge last night - where did they get all the water to last them 24 hours and 11 miles? I did not see them carrying that much water? Also, what the heck are they going to eat?

I think I would have long quit - I need the luxury's and service that only Disney can provide! :wizard: Forget that wilderness crap - but I will watch other people subject themselves to it!

I saw on the website that they're doing some contest where you have to spot a former Survivor driving a Pontiac in your city, take a picture and send it in to be entered to win a car. (We have to look for Gervace here in PA)

We have Boston Rob going through New England and also Ethan going through NY State (I live in CT but im right on the NY State border)

I really don't think I would ever notice them, and even if I did I wouldn't have a camera handy!

And I agree that the producers must have stepped in with extra water for the guys; they bounced back way too fast.

Didn't the "good" campsite have fresh water? I thought I saw something about that.

Does anyone think it was wierd that Jeff didn't pull Jim's vote out and read it? It looked like everyone voted for Jim - I thought that maybe he'd voted for himself. I know that usually they stretch that reveal out as long as possible and show every possibility so why didn't Jeff read his Margaret vote??

Once they have a majority vote of someone being eliminated and there is no chance that someone else may be eliminated they stop reading the votes. They only show all the votes when they have to....

Did Jim speak at the end? My Tivo cut off too early, usually when the cast off speaks they show everyone holding up the votes.

When the yellow team was wandering through the forest getting lost, I wonder what they will think when they find out that they have a wilderness guide as a member and he didn't step in and help. I know that it was unfamiliar territory to him but I bet he's really good at orienteering. He'd have to be.

I'm not sure that I like Stephanie and Bobby Jon as tribe members. Like a previous poster said, they've had their chance at a million. I'd rather see them as advisors for a short period of time than as players. I don't see them lasting very long but you never know. I do like them both though especially Stephanie.

I don't think the producers can step in and help them. If something happens that requires medical attention, I think they have to call for the medics and then that person is done with the game. I don't think they are allowed to come back. The only person I ever saw them call in the medics for was Michael on Outback (burned his hands in the fire), and he wasn't allowed to come back. I remember him saying that he refused to take an IV or any food/water in the hospital because he thought they would let him come back, but they wouldn't.

Hi all. I'm so excited that it's that time again!

puffkin, I think they are allowed to help them. I remember the season with the tattooed Rob. I think maybe he was on the same season with Boston Rob. Anyway, he stepped on some kind of sea creature and they had to come out and look at him. They were kind of miffed though because they said he wasn't really hurt that bad, he was just a whiner. Before they got there though the older blond lady (Kathy?) peed on it. :rotfl:

I think in Michael's case, he was just burned so badly that he needed alot of medical attention and wasn't capable of finishing the game.

I'm wondering too if the branch that hit Blake may have been poisonous. After it hit him, they kept focusing the camera on it over and over. I'm sure if it was dangerously poisonous they would have stepped in, but maybe it's just something that makes you sick. :confused3

I am so excited for another season of Survivor! DH and I are stoked and pleased to see Steph back...can't say much for Bobby Jon (he's as dim as they get!)

Do they have to drink the river water??? Where is their water source? I'd be so worried about crocodiles. Looks like another good season in store.

Anyways, My DH asked what I thought this morning and I told him I think that the guys must have had IVs given to them or something because I don't see how they could have recovered from the dehydration so quickly on the small amount of water that they broguht with them.

Bobbie Jon seemed in pretty bad shape so maybe the producers stepped in some. The guys all seemed to be doing real well the next day. Does anyone know about dehydration? Seemed like a quick recovery to me.
I did notice that they looked much better for the challenge. I was very surprised. Maybe you're right. Even if they had fresh water at their camp, you can't bounce back from severe dehydration with just water. I got dehydrated in college once because I was up all night working on a project drinking caffeine. The nurse that I saw told me to drink gatorade, for the electrolytes.

On the early show, they said something about having a nurse on the team. Jim pointed out that she wasn't just a nurse, but a NP. He then said something about how "you can pour water on someone's head, but without IV's...." It really sounded like they had medical help.

At the end when the credits were rolling they showed all the votes. I couldn't read Jim's, but I think it may have said Margaret? It was a long name.

If that's true, I'm not sure how I feel about that. Notice, no one on the other team was sick. They lost the good camp because (possibly) they paced themselves better and kept themselves healthy. And I'm sure some of them were at least slightly dehydrated. At least Steph's team won immunity--but barely.

In between laughing at the guys, I said to DH "good thing they won 'cause they wouldn't have been able to make it to the other camp".

I was admitted for dehydration once. When I woke up I couldn't get up out of bed or call for DH. I had to dial our number on the phone by the bed then hang up & wait for him to pick it up when it rang. He had to help me to the car & into the hospital. I wasn't having seizures but my heartrate was way too fast. They hooked up an IV right away & the nurse just squeezed it so that it would go into my system ASAP. I received another 2 units before they would release me.

Based on my experience I also doubt that they recovered without medical assistance from the producers.

I agree. My dd6 was admitted to the hospital last year due to dehydration. She was so weak, she couldn't even play with her toys. After a few hours of IV she bounced back real quick.

Yes said he hoped that him being on the show would encourage others his age to do things and he didnt have any hard feelings being voted off. He wished them all well.

 is right. I live in the Pittsburgh area where she's from and that whole season it was Jenna, Jenna, Jenna. (need a spewing smiley). Amber's from around here too. (insert another spewing smiley) The news stations just went on and on about them.

I'm originally from that area too. We definitely need a spewing smiley for them ;)

After that (I almost missed it) they did a family thing. It was a little video message from a family member of one of the cast members, but only we saw it, not the Survivors. It was Jim's wife wishing him luck and saying she couldn't wait to hug him again or something. I wonder if they will do that every week for the person who is voted out?

I noticed too, that the immunity challenge was held on day 3. So they took 1 full day (24 hours) to get to the camp. Then they had some time to recover before the challenge.
I wonder why Jim voted for Margaret? She was nice to him, made him a sling. Makes no sense at all. You would think he would have voted for Blake or BJ, thinking maybe others would, and he might have a chance :confused3 I don't get it. Did anyone see him on the Early Show-did he explain his vote?

I just looked on the CBS website and that is who Jim voted for (Margaret) everyone else voted Jim.
