Survivor 50 Thread

Just caught up. Well the losing tribe will probably keep losing at this point. They have no physical strength and minimal brains. Survivor tribe division and subsequent changes are questionable. It becomes a boring show when you pretty much know what will happen at competitions.

AND I HATE the Zac Brown segment. As I viewer I am there to watch the game and game play. I have no interest in a celebrity hijacking a good portion of an episode to showcase himself.

I agree. The Billie Eilish idol is one thing. It is kind of like Sia giving the money at the end. But the Zac Brown fishing segment wasn't necessary. It would be one thing if he was teaching a tribe member, using the wimpy spear they are given, but to take a boat far out and use a professional spear was silly.

When they had the first tribe swap, they said "the fans have spoken." What did the fans say - more tribe swaps before a tribe is decimated? If so, they should have another swap soon. Since we didn't see it in the preview, I assume it isn't happening this week.

I'm not sure that can really be prevented though.

For one the fans kept the no flint must earn it. That alone will keep kicking the tribes down. No food either at the beginning was also a fan vote and that will keep kicking the tribes down.

And the thing that can't be accounted for but is a problem is if a tribe votes more stronger players physically out too early. There's some very valid reasons for doing so but can come at the cost of issues.

So a tribe swap while I wouldn't mind now happening again (and they've done that before swapping multiple times over before the merge) it won't prevent a tribe from eventually running into an issue where they lose more than once back to back.

If the fans wanted to see more of the older way of doing it then providing some food and flint at the beginning would mean there is a higher chance of players staying strong rather than a less physically strong player standing a higher chance of becoming physically weaker for challenges faster.

One of the main reasons why the producers said it was unlikely to return to the longer timeframe was because the new era was more physically and mentally demanding and crushing because of the no food/no means of making fire the easier way and having to earn that. It was intentionally meant to make them feel the effects faster than the longer day format of before, the downside is those physically weaker players can more easily drag a team down quicker. Not to say that a physically strong player is always the best at the challenges but their bodies can handle most often the lack of food and fire better at the beginning.

Zac Brown didn't edit the epidode.

Zac Brown agreed to the entire thing. He was well aware of them filming him to be edited. He knows his "star level" and that he would be highlighted. If he wanted to experience Survivor - then play the game. Catch fish the way they do. Scrimp for fruits the way they do. It was ... I don't know, obnoxious.

If I wanted to watch him, I would .... I want to watch the Survivor players.

You know what I'd love to see? Multiple challenges in a row in one episode. Start with an intense team water challenge, then do a team puzzle, then an individual food eating challenge with gross things (not all in one day). For each, there should be some type of big reward, like comfort items, fishing gear, or more chickens. Or bring on the auction.

That whole Zac Brown thing was super distracting and added nothing to the season. It was painful to sit through and I ended up fast forwarding through most of it. There is a lot of talk that the fish he caught was anchored and there are photos online where you can clearly see the line, which just makes the whole thing even more obnoxious. Also, why give the winners fish when they can eat fish every day?? Who the heck cares that this guy I have barely heard of can fish? I want to see the players, not this guy. He got more airtime than most of this season's players have had and it was just super irritating to watch.

I like Zac Brown and his music but I totally agree. It added nothing to viewing Survivor.

We just watched because we were away.

Ozzy really wants a spot on The White Lotus, at least it seemed that way with his weird need to be Mike White's number one. Jealous of Angelina's speaking role? Is that why he's targeting her so hard? /s Christian and his wife were background resort guests last season, and Ozzy doesn't seem to mind him around.

Emily. Sigh. She made such progress on her season thanks to Kaleb's patience. She has no common sense skills.

Zac Brown sucked up too much air time.

We were disappointed to see Mike go.

Dee is really good at this game.
I agree.

Does anyone watch The Challenge? She was on the most recent season (45) Vets and New Threats. She went far into the game, which had a mix of Veteran repeating players and brand new ones. I have no doubt she has taken some of what she experienced there, along with her Survivor win knowledge, to be a contender in this season of Survivor.

Much better episode last night! I found myself smiling through a lot of it, especially Jeff's impression of Christian!

But every time they call the idol the "Billie-Eilish Idol," I want to scream. It's incessant and nobody cares who the namesake is, we just want to see how they use it in the game. But overall, fun episode.

Maybe it is just me but it seems that the IDOL has just disappeared from the game, ironically now that it has a celebrity sponsor. Whether it is edits or not, I don't feel like they are looking, they are not making it important to find or maybe they are all so confident. One of them said something to effect of "oh are there idols" on one show. It def has a different vibe to me that they aren't worried about having something in their pocket. Just this week hit me as this season is different, seems less competition, less island dropping to advantages, less game play within tribes ... glad they will get merged because they really are kind of boring at this point. I need some antagonizing .... and if we don't have any with Rizzo still there, will we get any?

Originally I was hoping Rizzo would go home but continually seeing Charlie so angry all the time made me happy he was voted off. He is just so, so bitter from losing in his season that he couldn't get a grip for 50. Too bad because he was a good player before the angriness and bitterness set in.

I agree about Dee. I didn't particularly care for here during her season but the girl can definitely play the game.

Angelina with the jacket was pure Survivor classic comedy.

The idols so far, seem to be a non factor.
