Survivor 34: Game Changers

Last night's episode showed how manipulative the editing is. I have no doubt it was always going to be Sandra. They just wanted you to believe there was a chance it could be Tai

Yeah, what exactly happened? It looked like the whole thing was going against Tai. When the votes were counted, it was like the Tai targeting Ozzy thing didn't happen. How did paranoid Tai become so confident that he didn't even play one of his TWO idols?

I think this game is getting too kushy. Go back to no food, lots of different challenges (all of them end in puzzles now!), food auctions, etc. Almost-real surviving.

Maybe somewhere out in the AZ desert, or wind-swept Texas.

I agree with you on the challenges. They're an absolute joke now, everything is teamwork and puzzles. I remember the good old days where there were challenges that were purely physical, mental, endurance. Man Survivor, what happened to the creativity?

Totally agree. I miss the rice, beans and coconut diets that lead to massive weight loss coupled with real physical endurance challenges. Total physical and mental fatigue. You were surviving something other than manipulation.

I don't like puzzles either. It's also really hard to follow along with what they are doing! I'm also tired of what appears to be the same challenges week after week. Throw in a little Fear Factor meets Survivor once in a while. I'd also like for hidden items to be found around camp instead of just immunity idols.

I think that it works in her favor for Debbie to be at Exile. It gives a few people time to forget about her meltdown last week, it ensures she won't be putting her foot in her mouth for a little while longer, and maybe she just needs a Snickers bar!!! Maybe she will go back with a refreshed attitude.

I miss the bucket challenge where the contestants had to hold up the buckets as long as they could. I miss the memory challenges. I miss the nasty bug eating food challenges. I understand that the women are disadvantaged in the water bucket challenge but you can make that a challenge where both a man and a woman both win. Come on Survivor.

I was glad she's out now, never liked her!!!! Did anyone think that Debbie may have a "thing" for Cochran? lol That whole interaction was awkward to watch, you know she wasn't paying attention to his words at all. And who knew she has worked with presidents and diplomats........... hahahaha

I laughed right out loud when Debbie said she has worked with presidents!!! So funny!! I wonder what she thinks of herself when she sees herself on TV!!

I never cared for the gross eating challenges. Some of the stuff would make me gag and I would have to flip the channel! Ha, ha!!

I do miss the food auction. That was fun!

As for the challenges, like standing on a pole etc. Don't we usually see a bunch of endurance type challenges once they are one tribe and going for individual immunity?? I am positive they had some of those challenges last season and every other season, but not before they are all one tribe.

I got a little nervous last night when I heard Ozzie's name!!!

I usually watch all of the Ponderosa clips when the voted off contestant is on the jury. As soon as they leave tribal they are weighed before going to Ponderosa and just about every contestant has some pretty serious weight loss for such a short (relatively speaking) period of time.

I hate waiting for the west coast.

Speaking only for myself of course, but as a West Coast gal I know not to open any threads discussing shows until after I've watched. I don't see why those of you who are where the show airs earlier can't discuss in real time, that can be part of the fun on a thread like this, and I don't consider that a spoiler. JMHO though.

I live on the east coast, but was wondering about this too!! If you don't want to see a "spoiler" before you have seen the episode, don't open the thread!! Seems pretty easy to me!

How about numerous non-immunity idol idols along with immunity idols BUT none of them have anything saying they are real or not. Can picture someone or more than just one being not too nice and thinking..... "Oh Boy, I have an Immunity Idol so I'm going to be rotten and play my idol. That will teach them. Ha, Ha, Ha." Then comes tribal.......and......oops!!! And back to basics is good thinking.

This is strange. The whole season I've been wanting Sandra gone and questioning why she wasn't a bigger target. I'm actually a little sad she was voted out though. I think she played her strongest strategic game this time and I'll miss watching her manipulate people and flip their script.

So do you think Debbie chose the best advantage? The extra vote thing hasn't been all that helpful in the past, has it? You need to be confident you know how other people are voting AND have the vote be close to use it to the best advantage, and how often does that happen? I wish she would have picked the fake idol kit just because I think that had the most potential to make for interesting TV viewing. lol

I'm liking a lot about this season, but I hope it doesn't come down to choosing the least objectionable of players no one wants to win to root for at final tribal. That seems to be the direction the game is going though. I'm still really sad Malcolm is gone. :(

If I were Debbie I'd have chose the advantage in the IC. In case she was going back to Culpepper and Haley's tribe, that would have helped her cause. They would have been pleased she took that one and they would maybe not lose the IC and she'd be safe another week.

Does anyone else read Dalton Ross's recaps and interviews with Jeff Probst after every episode? I love reading his take! They're on Entertainment Weekly's website.

Jeff thinks that the fake immunity idol would have been the best advantage to take.

Also, according to Dalton, production makes the idols easy to find because they WANT the contestants to find them and use them. They believe that having idols in play makes for a more interesting gameplay.

Sandra made sure that the other two winners went out before she did so she's still the only two time winner. Never forget...

The Queen stays Queen!

I like Sandra. I've always liked her. I think her game was brilliant this season as always. Some people say that she flew under the radar her first season and to some extent in Heroes vs Villains as well. I think she's just great at not over playing. She had to play a bigger game this time and she proved that she is one of the best manipulators ever.

I've watched every season of Survivor no less than 3 times each and I have always been a huge Sandra fan. Heck, I told my DH last week that I was convinced that she was going to go for the hat trick and win this season! I'm pretty bummed that she is gone but she left with a lot of grace and dignity.

I know there is not a lot of love for her but darn it, that potty mouthed mom of two can play!

Not sure who to root for now. :confused3

You and me, both, on Sandra! She's amazing! I think I'm rooting for Ozzie now, but he's such an obvious target, I don't think he has a prayer.

I have to agree on the fake immunity idol--I think a more aware/savvy player than Debbie would have thought of all sorts of creative things to do with that. Think about it, you could hide it...or give it to someone you wanted to blindside..or use it as leverage if people are thinking of voting you out. The extra vote thing has never worked out great, and having an advantage in a challenge doesn't always change the outcome.

The only thing about the 'fake' idol is that she's now on a tribe with Tai who has two 'real' idols so he'd know it's fake.... well he should but as he himself said, he's not that bright.

Never been a huge Tai fan esp after him blindsiding Caleb, He is the main reason that Sandra is gone and for that I give him the credit for doing that
