Smart move would have been to vote Tai, esp since he didn't play the II.
When Tai asked Aubry if he should play the idol during voting, she should have said something like, "Maybe you should just to be safe." When they get back to camp, she could then say she is so sorry, she just didn't want to see him get blind-sided. Alliance maintained and idol gone...
Maybe he watched the show and thought he should enter and surprise, he got picked. Survivor does like police officers and firefighters, and Joe is FBI. If Joe does go in the finals, he will probably say, I was no one's enemy. A few Survivor winners went all the way under the radar.
I thought his advantage was to change a vote. I could be wrong. I suspect he won't get around to using it though.

See, that's what I thought it said when he read the paper. So essentially he's changing 1 person's vote.(Does anyone know whether he gets to invalidate a vote, and then cast one?....I seem to recall that's how it worked last time....he gets to say "Joe doesn't vote, and I cast his for him.")

I know it is all editing, but Jeff doesn't even ask him questions at Tribal. The most interaction he had this show, was Jeff confirming that Joe was quitting the challenge. Usually Jeff screams at people to never quit. Something is not quite right about the whole situation. They do like to cast people from those professions but Joe must have been a real dud. He doesn't get as much as a sentence at Tribal, very few of those one on one with the camera talks, does nothing in the challenges and is never included in any of the strategic discussions they show. I'm guessing the producers regretted his casting.

Jeff will generally always have positive things to say about the players. Here is what he recently said about Joe:
"Joe was an instant 'yes' when we met him in casting. Very few people in their 70s can get out there and play Survivor. We’ve had two: Rudy Bosch in season 1 and Joe in season 32. I have been absolutely blown away by Joe. He’s a really amazing example of what is possible when you really want something. He has lived his life with adventure as a theme. He goes after what he wants. He wanted Survivor, he went for it, and he got it. To survive these conditions at any age is hard – just ask Aubry – and Joe is thriving. He may not be as malleable as some, he may not be as physical as some, but he’s in this game, and he’s got a vote – and that’s more than the majority of the players who started this game can say.
I do want to be clear: I don’t appreciate Joe only because he’s older. He has a great spirit. I think he is a good person who looks out for others. Yes, his age plays a part in his performance, but that’s expected. It would be a shame if people just saw him as the 'older, gray-haired gentlemen in great shape.' What I think Joe offers is a reminder that you MUST go for what inspires you. You MUST seek the adventures that are calling you. Joe did, and we are all so grateful."
It's great that he is going for it but if he's in the game why is his edit showing him doing just about nothing? If by being in the game, JP means he is still able to vote, I don't think that is much of a game.
