Survey on prospective ticket offerings for DVC members

I just read on savedisney.com that they are critical of offering "sales" and that park admission should be lower consistantly to encourage people to go more often and to cut it out with the sales since they seem to cheapen the disney reputation. Also it says what sales do is make people wait for sales rather then just going. This is an awesome idea to offer a discount to DVCers since we are the most captive audience and we will go down more often because of this. WOOHOO!!! I am psyched. I might have to change my siggy. We have not purchased universal tickets yet and we may just go for the AP if this does happen :) I hope I get a card!

I am assuming that you did take a different survey and that there may well be more than two versions of the survey. I would expect each password to be fully unique (that is, once you had used your password to take the survey it would not work a second time) but that one group of passwords would link to one survey while another linked to a different one.

Was this survey on line or a postcard in snail mail?

This would be a great thing and would impress me if they did something along these lines.

I have to say that if I've bought an AP, I tend to stay within WDW. If I have PHs I have gone to other spots in Orlando. I would think that if more of us were buying APs that would mean that more of us were in the parks for more days, buying food/pins/gifts. As far as who would be able to buy them, at the lower rates....I would imagine that you would have to show your DVC memb. card when buying them and again when activating them. Wouldn't take any more time or work than at the present time.

It makes sense. How many times have we all been asked if we get our park passes for free or get a discount? Usually they are surprised when I say we don't.

If we're in the parks, we'd all spend more money. I can't believe how much money we spent this past trip and don't really have much to show for it. Was that food that expensive?

Shan, YES, the food was that expensive. I am also recently back with a lot less money than I left with. What I have to show for it is tighter clothing! :)

For those that have received the survey, are you current AP holders?

The survey only asks about ticket discounts (and not about "perks" in general), and it references specific discount numbers. I would think that this is a positive sign, although I will believe it when I see it. If this is a large scale member survey, it is going to plant the seed in members minds that this type of perk is an almost certainty.

I wonder if they will end up linking the percentage of a DVC ticket discount to the number of points owned. The more points...the larger the discount. That would likely encourage add-ons, especially if the discounts are substantial enough for the different "points-owned" ranges.

Additionally, the lack of participation in latest member event may have highlighted that DVC members are more sensitive to park admission costs/value than Disney/DVC thought.

If I'm not mistaken weren't the original DVC owners given (well not given since membership isn't free) what is now the equivalent of LOS passes for each visit? I could be mistaken on that, but that's what I remember. I know that it doesn't exist anymore, but I'm pretty sure that's what the situation was for a long time. So since that perk doesn't exist anymore I'm ecstatic that the mouse is considering offering discounted passes of any type to the membership.

Original OKW members were given LOS passes for 1/2 of the max occupancy of their room (2 for studios & 1 BR's, 4 for 2 BR's, 6 for GV's) for the number of nights of their stay (had to drop first or last day). I think this perk stopped for new members right before BWV opened in 7/96. Original members got the passes through 12/99 (including people who bought resales from them).

We were notified by snail mail about the survey, but the survey was actually taken on line.

And..... YES, I am an AP holder.

The passes weren't LOS passes. They where just 3-park passes (even after DAK opened). As DebbieB wrote, the passes included your check-in date or your check-out date, but not both.

The passes through the end of 1999 were a sales incentive. They were part of Disney Vacation Development's cost structure. (The passes were not funded by dues, not were they given to DVC members by theme park operations.

I also recieved the survey mine was for a 15% discount on all ticket media. I told them I thought 15% was too little that I would want 25% and I also told them if they did discount tickets I'd be buying more points. A win win situation.

Well, all this discussion has caused me to think. I guess DVC members should not be gven a discount on park passes. It's probably a bad idea. I guess I should vote no when I get the survey.

I got a survey postcard today too! But my survey prices were very different from yours. For instance-

The PAP was offered at a $125.00 savings (25% off reg. prices) which would equal- $374.00 Cost for children's tickets would be 80% of the adult ticket.

The UPH would be 15% off and go as follows:

1 nite/2 day- $110.00
2/3- $150.00
3/4- $201.00
4/5- $240.00
5/6- $268.00
6/7- $296.00
7/8- $325.00

PHP- would also be 15% off and started at

5days (2 pluses)- $239.00
6 (3 pluses)- $265.00
7 (4 pluses) - $291.00

and finally the AP-

save $100.00 (25% again) off AP- which would bring the cost of it down to $279.00 - THIS IS THE ONE I VOTED FOR!!

On my survey they asked me to rank in order of preference which I liked the best to the worst. And then asked what the likelyhood of my using a AP at that rate. I told them I would DEFINETLY use it! The rest of the survey was about the last 2 trips I took to WDW and what kind of pass I used. I found it interesting that they asked if I used someone elses leftover days on any of the tickets I used for the parks.

All in all- I'm pretty excited about the possible discounts they may offer! Let's keep our fingers crossed that that 25% of AP comes thorugh!

I just walked in the door, completed my survey. I had the same questions as yours!

Why?

poohbear-

I was so glad to read that! For a minute there I was wondering if i read my survey wrong!

DEFINITELY would stay in WDW if we had annual passes. I see no reason not to and to spend $$ elsewhere. Just for exaple we went to WDW 2 times since Sept we will be returning this Nov. Because of the expense of the tickets we decided to try universal because we just "did Disney" 3 months prior when we booked this trip. Also by going on the cruise we will still be experience "disney magic" plus staying at DVC and Pop Century makes it even more magical. We honestly don't need to go into the parks. Had there been a discounted AP I sure would have gone that route for not only park entry but for the room discount as well (for pop). So Disney is losing the money for tickets (because we are planning on going to universal) and $$ on the food since we will be eating at citywalk for our lunch and dinners and of course my son is going to want stuff so rather then bring home another Mickey or Buzz he will have a Spiderman. So if we had an AP we would definitely be in the world instead.

I posted above that I recieved the survey and mine was for 15% across the board on all ticket media. I don't have an AP nor did I attend member homecoming. My friend also recieved a survey and she didn't go to homecoming either nor does she have AP. I wonder if there is some common denominator?? Like not attending homecoming.

A significant AP discount would get us back inside the parks after a 1 1/2 year hiatus. Sure hope it comes to pass (pun intended).
