On previous visits we have enjoyed the surrey bikes and have rented them at POR and CBR. I was wondering what other resorts have these and which others prefer from past experience?
Hello I know that the surrey bikes are available at the disney Boardwalk resort our family has rented before and we loved them we will be staying this time at po fq and will try to rent there if you havent been to the boardwalk it is a lot of fun in the evening they have a pin trading station for kids only that our son really liked hope this helps
They have the surrey bikes at the Poly but we have never used them (yet). If you can ride them over to the GF on the path that would be great, otherwise you are cut off at the TTC.
You can also rent them at the Wilderness Lodge. They have a paved path that goes to Fort Wilderness. We rented one and had just enough time to go to the petting zoo over there for a little bit and pedal back.
We rented one at the Boardwalk. It was OK. We were only allowed to make the big loop around. I think we made the loop about 3 times. Also, there were some slight hills. There were 4 adults peddling and my legs were burning. Maybe some were peddling more than others?????
Boardwalk is definitely a rough ride. If you have any freeloaders on board you're definitely going to have to get out and walk up a few of the hills. It also gets pretty crowded in the evening and almost impossible to manuever through the crowds.
AllEarsNet quotes the surrey bikes at $20.75 for a 4 seater for half an hour, which is right around what I remember paying last year.
Thank you for the suggestions, not sure if we will find time to rent one, but I think we'll try the WL or go back to CB if we do. It's definitely not something you want to do when it is crowded. The first time we tried one our DS was 4 and he enjoyed riding in the basket and ringing the bell. We have always enjoyed this.
I would say that if you are 2 adults who are in great shape or do a lot of biking at home, you should have no problems on the Boardwalk. If you rent the bike at a resort with no hills, you will be fine whether you are in great shape or not.
DH and I are both adults in our mid-twenties who aren't at the greatest shape and we had a little trouble at the Boardwalk. Luckily, we never had to get out and push the bike up the hills. I would say we made it around 6 or 7 times. Even though it was tough, we had a lot of fun.
We're in our 40s and not in the greatest of shape AND, since we're staying in the Dolphin, we had planned to ride around the Boardwalk --- Doesn't sound too promising.
DH and I had a two seater with a "basket" in front that fit our four and five year old "freeloaders" We only made it around cresent lake from the BW once (we are not in great shape either), but we did make it - hauling an extra 100 lbs of kid.
I wouldn't put myself through that for me - but the four year old really wanted to and was delighted with the trip.
