I woke up before the Mickey wake up call. I was too excited to sleep. I wake up DH, we shower get dressed, and take out the video camera. We record the room and the outside of the resort for our kids. We gave them a little daily travel log, since they werent with us. We trek to the car, put the top town and we are off to the Poly. We get there, drop off the luggage, DH goes to park the car, and I go to check in. I requested a room with a balcony. They said not a problem and we got a 2nd floor room with balcony in Tokelau, which of course wasnt ready yet. We got our leis, and keys and we were off for breakfast. We needed to be at Epcot by 8:45 for our tour (Back Stage Magic, 7 hours long). It was now about 8:00, so we went upstairs to Kona Café. We had never eaten there before, and wanted to try it. We asked if we could be out within 20 minutes. They said no, so we said thanks and went downstairs. My DH looked at me and said where are we going. I said we are going to grab a quick breakfast at Captain Cooks. He looked at me like I had three heads. We have been there before; I guess he was having a senior moment. We get there; grab a refillable mug, and 2 bacon, egg and cheese croissants. I get us a table. We fill the mug with diet decaff. Coke (we were very happy to see that they had decaff.). We ate, they were really good for quick food, got another soda, filled our brittas with ice and water, put them in the backpack and headed back upstairs to the monorail to go to Epcot.
A monorail came rather quickly, and we grabbed some seats. My DH was like, we shoulda walked to the TTC we are going to be late. I looked at him and said we are going to be fine, enjoy the ride. We get to the TTC and switch to the Epcot monorail. We waited about 3 minutes and got on the monorail. Again DH was worried we would be late. I looked at him and said, we dont have to be there until 8:45. He thought we had to be there at 8:30. We made it in plenty of time. We had to meet up at Guest Relations. We didnt even get to the window, we saw the group collecting before that. We checked in, got big square Mickey Pins and wrote our names on it. Our tour guide was Nancy, originally from NJ, and she was really awesome. She does this tour 3 times a week. We went around in a circle, introduced ourselves, and said what job we would want at Disney if we could get it.
After that we walked through security, got into the park (we didnt need tickets for this tour) and promptly walked backstage. We met Roger, the driver of the DCL bus that would be driving us today. We were given lots of info about back stage at Epcot, and then we drove around the world to the American Adventure. We got back on the bus and there was a lovely cooler filled with cold bottle water to take as we wished. We then headed off to MGM and saw costuming. We also did lunch there at Mama Melrose. Wow. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=623486 We went to see where all the Christmas stuff was kept, we then went to where the workshop, where they construct and fix and build the rides. We also went to the florist and saw the beautiful arrangements for the weddings that weekend, and where they put together those beautiful baskets you can order. We also went to see the laundry facilities. After that we headed off to MK. We went backstage, and then to Main Street to watch the afternoon parade. Nancy son was on the dancers in it at the very beginning. After that we got to see the infamous utilidors.
Back onto the bus. The tour was over, and I thought we were heading back to Epcot, but others on the bus requested to be dropped off at the Poly. Well since this was where we were staying, we decided to get off. We received a pin each, thanked Nancy and Roger, and were off to see if our room was ready.
The room was very nice, but VERY WARM. We lowered the thermostat, and nothing kicked in. We waited a few minutes, and then called maintenance. They wanted us to check if the balcony door was open, if it is the air wont go on. We check the door, it is closed, so they said someone will be up shortly. Before someone arrived, the AC kicked in. It took about 15 minutes, but the room started cooled down. DH called maintenance and said they didnt need to come. We relaxed in the room for awhile and DH got antsy. We had PSs for Ohanas at 8, and then we were off for E-ticket Night at MK. I went into the bathroom and when I came out, DH was napping. I decided to nap for a bit too. We didnt nap for too long. We got up around 6:30, got our stuff together and walked over to Ohanas. I figured we would check in early and see if we could be seated. We got there, and there was no line. The CM said we could be seated within a ½ hour. We went to the store, to pick up a list of things my best friend wanted for her kids. Within 5 minutes of being in the store, our timer went off. DH went to pay, while I went to get our table. Well, it was the perfect table for wishes it we had it later in the evening. It was a table for two with a view of the castle. See link above for restaurant review.
After dinner was done, we went back to the room, to drop off my friends goodies, and then walked of to the TTC to catch the monorail to MK. We got there, and went through the turnstiles. Pal Mickey didnt say anything, I was not happy. We went to get our wristbands, and headed to get PM fixed. Well the computer was down on Main Street and they said that the one in Adventureland was working. Well, since I wanted to do POC, and Jungle Cruise before E-ticket kicked in, we headed over there. We went to the store, and waited on line. Seems like the person in front of me was having troubles with their rented PM, and she had lost her receipt to boot. I was getting kinda antsy, and wanted to go, but DH said to stay. The nice CM asked what the problem was and we told him, and he said he just needed to be reprogrammed since he was gone for so long. Two minutes later he is talking up a store, and we are off to POC. We basically walk onto the ride. We get off of there, and get on line for the Jungle cruise. The boat we didnt get on, had an awesome Skipper. I dont know his name, but he was singing The Lion Sleeps Tonite, and he was really good. Our skipper was ok, and it was fun doing the ride in the dark.
We get off the ride and go grab a dole whip. A first for DH and I. They were just ok, plain ice cream would have been better. DH then asks me what I want to do, I tell him I want to watch Wishes. There was nothing else I really really wanted to ride that I couldnt do once E-ticket kicked in. We walked over to the castle where the parade just ended and grab some curb.
We watched Wishes (It is an awesome 12 minutes), and got out of the way of the people leaving the park. We sat for a few minutes and decided to head over towards Tomorrowland for Buzz Lightyear. Got there and got online. The wait wasnt too bad, but the line behind us was getting longer, so they started to open the outside queue again. It was nice to see all the CMs checking wristbands. If you didnt have one, you were not allowed on the ride. DH and I shared a car. WOW, what a stupid move for me. Every time I aimed he moved it in a different direction. Next time, separate cars. Ok next ride. I asked DH if he wanted to do Space Mountain (I dont do roller coasters), but he passed. Next into Fantasyland. Dh asks me if I want to do Pooh. Now, I am a big Pooh fan, but I really dont like the Pooh ride. I do it with the kids. I really really miss Mr. Toads Wild Ride. Well we decide to go to Mickeys Philamagic. This is the best attraction ever. We just walked right in, and the theater was almost empty. Needless to say, we didnt have to sit all the way to the right. Next was Peter Pan, the shortest line I have ever seen for this ride!! After this we went to the Haunted Mansion. We didnt just walk on, but the wait was only about 10 minutes to get into the elevator. After HM, we went to Splash Mountain. I was really looking forward to this since I never got to riding it over Christmas. We got a little wet, but not enough. It may have been night time, but it was still HOT and HUMID!!! After this DH wanted to go on BTMRR. Now I did go on this with him over Xmas, but didnt want to do it again, so I sat and waited while he went on. He was back within about 15 minutes, and then we slowly made our way out of the park. We walked through the shops on our way out so we could get some cool air, and to browse a bit. Boy, was I tired.
We grabbed the monorail back to the Poly and slept.
