I made the arrangements yesterday for DH to do the 8 lap Driving Experince in 2 weeks. It is his early Christmas Gift. Anyone have any ideas how I can tell him?? I want to wait until we are at least on our way to WDW. I just hope I can keep it a secret and can get the mail before him until the papers arrive.

Maybe make some kind of coupon/invitation on the puter for him...I think that would be cool!

Go to the toy aisle at walmart/kmart etc.. and buy a Nascar toy car and wrap it up as a present- inside the car put a little piece of paper with the real present info on it. (Obviously it would be better if it was larger than a matchbox;) ). Maybe they even have a RP car- they have lots of them! Jill

I surprised my DH with the paperwork during our flight down. It gave him something to do while we were traveling and gave him something to look forward to. (Make sure that he has full length pants with him for your trip - pretty sure that they require that and sneakers/full coverage footwear.)

What is the cost of RP driving experience and what are some of the details? I know my DH would love that.

I surprised my dh with the ride-along during our trip 2 weeks ago. I didn't tell him anything! He thought we were headed over to Kennedy Space Center that morning. When we got to the parking lot of our hotel in DTD, I told him that I needed to drive because we were headed someplace else first. He knew something was up but had no idea what.

We drove over and got to the Magic Kingdom parking entrance and he was totally confused. "Are we doing MK today?" Nope. He had no idea until we drove through the tunnel and popped up onto the raceway what was up. He was THRILLED! Had a ball. My 7 and 5 yodds even kept it a secret for months. Have fun with it!!

Thanks for the ideas - I think I will put it on our itinerary (since he won't look at it anyways until we get there) and just let him check it after we arrive at the hotel with the envelope with the papers he needs to fill out tucked inside the notebook. That is as long as I am able to get the mail before him when the papers arrive.

Bugbugmom - It cost around $371 plus some odd change. It is 3 hours with some class time at the beginning then driving around the track. Check out www.1800bepetty.com. You just need to click drive & ride along at the top left.

Piglet, we just saw the RP thing on the travel Channel. It looked neat. There was a special about "Secrets of WDW" or something like that, and the driving class was one of the things they showed. All the students were men, and they learn in a classroom, suit up, and get to drive. It looked cool. The guys were all loving it. Hope your dear hubby has a great time!

Melinda, I'm so glad you asked this question. I'm thinking of giving this to my husband for Christmas also. We saw the show on the travel Channel and he was like " WoW. That looks great."
I like the idea of wrapping the car. Thanks Nasmith.
We are giving this to him from me and the kids. My daughters name is also Melinda. You don't meet to many of them around. I hope he has a wonderful time and you post your trip when you come back. Thanks, Gina

Oh one more thing- Someone mentioned you can save 10% with the orlando magic card. Maybe you should check this out and save some money. Gina

Gina - you are right - I don't very often meet another Melinda.

I will definetely post and let you know how it goes.

I just hope I can keep it a secret until then.
