Surprise - Today is your last day

Thats what I heard this morning at work. They have hired a law school student to take my place. They said they had thought I was going to take the bar in Feb and leave them then - I had told them in oct that I wasn't taking the bar until July and planned on working until then. I guess no one was listening. Luckily I am getting some severence pay and I was only planning on staying at this job until mid May. I filed for unemployment too so hopefully I'll be okay. We aren't cancelling the disney trip since my mom is paying for it anyway. I'm very happy about that since I am so looking forward to it. And to my WISH friends, I now won't have an excuse not to exercise since I'll be at home during the day.

I just needed to vent and let it out. THanks for letting me share.

You won't beleive what HomeGoods did to me. They have cut my hours to 8 hours a week. Then hire 2 people give them 30 hours a week. So D*** mad at them now. That just plain stupid. They could give me the hours.

That was the last straw. I will only work there until I found a another job then I quitting.

I wish that all us find a better job then one we have.

Sorry to hear about the job. But great outlook on the whole situation.

BTW - When I took the bar I lost 15 pounds. After Bar review in the morning a friend and I would work out for 1 hour and then I would go home and study. Did this eveyday from mid-May to end of July. It was a great stress reliever from the studying. Good luck!!

I'm so sorry! Believe me, I know how you feel--I just got downsized last Friday. It stinks, but we can get through this. Something much better for both of us will come along. {{{HUGS}}}

Thanks everyone for the warm wishes both for finding a job and passing the bar.

I told myself I can't be too upset b/c no matter what I do I won't get my job back, I should be lucky b/c I am getting some severence pay, and I wasn't planning on staying at this job forever. However, I am upset that they didn't give me any notice at all. I also somehow think it would be easier if they weren't happy with my job performance - quite the opposite so they say and promise to provide a good reference. I was even in the middle of several important assignments. For the client's sake I hope that these don't get passed to a newbie clerk and that one of the attorneys completes them.

I love HomeGoods! I'm so sorry to hear they treat their employees that way. Did they bother to give you a reason at all?

The only reason that give that had to cut labor hours. If they have cut my hours for the past couple weeks. I come to work on time, do the work that suppose to do. But they can afford to hire two new employees give them hours. They give one lady 9 hours a week.

If could afford to quit I would. But I can't.

I give piece advice do not go work for TJ Maxx Corpartion. They own TJ Maxx, Marshells, Winners HomeGoods, and A.J. Wright.

But Love shopping at Marshells. They only give small dicount it's 10%.

Oh Steph! I am so sorry that you lost this job! It really stinks that you found out this way too. You'd think they would have had a little more class about it, right?
I'm very happy that you still have a positive attitude! Keep smiling and you'll end up much better off in the long run. Will severance and unemployment hold you over till after the bar? Boy, you could sure get a lot of studying done that way (and lots of exercise! )
