Surprise... It's Someday!! A Dec 2010 PTR!!

Happy Birthday Gavin!!!!

BdayDisney.jpg

I have been such a horrible Diser lately, I haven't kept up on anyones PTR's, not even mine!! I think part of it was the disney blah's just like you were describing, but luckily, that is cured since Jack and I leave in less than 48 hours!

I am SO SO SO glad that everything is fine with Brenda! I know what a relief it is! She sounds like such a wonderful girl, and so thoughtful. Obviously you are doing something right!

Happy Birthday to Gavin! 3 seems so big! Jack is 2.5 this month, and he seems to grow up a bit everyday. Every once in a while he makes a cognitive leap in development, and it throws me every.single.time.

I'm glad that you are coming out of your Disney blahs... I know how you feel when a trip is so far away that it seems liek it will never come! When I put up our countdown calendar and it took up the whole side of our pantry, I about cried! But every day we take off one more Mickey... and some days we forget so we get to take off 2! :rotfl:

Hope the party goes well!! I plan on being a much better Diser in the future, so I can't wait to hear how the party went!

So, how was the birthday party? Did Gavin enjoy it? Hope everything went well! :cheer2:

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Gavin had an awesome birthday party. The kids all seemed to have a good time and there were many great comments. Even got asked to plan a friend's son's party. It will be while we are at Disney though so I had to say I couldn't. I will post some pictures soon. I am having some issues with photobucket right now! UGH!

I do have a question for all you "regulars". When you miss a few days because you are just too busy, how do you keep up with your subscriptions? Seems like I just can't get through them all and then get time to post here. By the time I am part way through my subscriptions I am worn out and don't get time to post here. Finally, tonight I just deleted all the notices and will start over. I don't know how else to get through them. And I need to get moving on this PTR or you all will be bored to death!

Will be back when I can get pictures uploaded. Might just call it a night and try again in the morning. :confused3

Getting caught up is hard  I spend a lot of time reading :surfweb: and I skip over all the comments and just read the updates. Not too bad for me cause most of my subsscriptions don't update every day so I can get caught up pretty easily

I don't! I currently have 68 emails from the DIS of updates in my inbox. I try, and sometimes I do randomly get caught up - but rarely - every once in a great while the DIS gets slower, or I have quite a few hours to devote to it. I read some, and then just do an update when I feel like it - just did an update when I still had over 70 notices in my inbox!

I also don't read all the chit chat. I do read some here and there, and try to keep up, but I skip a LOT. I always read the replies back to me and the updates form the thread owner.

Many DISers are teachers that can pop on here and there while the kids are working to read a bit during the day. I get about 2 hours a day - and that's if I don't do anything else during H's naptime. Sometimes I do a bit at night, but it's often split between making dinner, eating, cleaning, spending time with Joe, etc. Almost every night, right before bed I'll get an hour in too. I don't watch TV ever - only a movie about once a week - so it's like my relaxing thing to do.

Real life is most important! Catch up when you can, don't worry about being behind. :goodvibes

Subbing from the other side of E. College Ave!

(okay, okay, I technically live downtown...)

Nice to hear from somebody who is actually around me! (: I'm going on my first trip in FOREVER with my family just a week before you go!

I can't wait to see the pics from Gavin's b-day party? How did he like the Mater that his sister bought him!?!?

As far as subscriptions, I usually pick one or two a day to catch up on then focus on my PTR. Sometimes I'm a little behind on some of them but I just comment on several things I missed in one post. Also, a lot of times I will skip a lot of the comments and just read the updates. :confused3 Seems to work ok:thumbsup2

We're back from our trip and I apologize for being late, but I hope Gavin had a GREAT birthday.

Hello there! We are practically neighbors!!! You are going at a good time too! Bellefonte Marching Band will be there at the beginning of your trip. Just goes to show what a small world it really is! I can wave from here and you can really almost see me!

I think part of my problem is I open a bunch of window at one time and by hte time I get to reading them all the inbox is full again. Its a never ending cycle I think. I am kinda caught up now. Just can't get that far behind again. I also really need to get off my behind and get working on this trip... and in turn my PTR! :lmao:

I have started skipping over other posters comments. I love all my Dis friends but that eats up so much of your time.

Thanks everyone for all the posting advice. I am hoping that I will start getting my days posted this weekend. I just looked at the schedule and realized, after reading another PTR, I have no down time for the kids. I know it will be tiring for me so the kids will be simply exhausted. Need to try to re-work somethings.

I am still trying to get Photobucket to work. Is there another place I can post pictures to get them on here? I finally got them up on my Facebook yesterday. It really was a great time.

Thanks! Gavin had an awesome birthday. Brenda is now wondering when we can get to planning hers. It just kinda hit me that I really need to start planning for that before we go to Disney. Not everything, but I have to have a good idea of what is going to happen. Its such a busy time of year. It seems each year that her birthday is so rushed and never anything over the top. This year I want to make sure she gets a great party like Gavin did. Its just that her birthday is in January so by the time Christmas and New Years is over it sneaks right in and is upon us before we know it. Gonna to get a plan going early. She already says she wants a Phinaes and Ferb birthday party! LOL

Can't wait to read you TR!

I bet that poster was me! LOL!

yes, downtime is important. My 1st 2 trips we went a little fatster and Claire threw up on both trips. Last trip I really tried even hard to focus on days for her to sleep in or do some more resort time. It wasn't alot, but it worked out better. Also take a cue from your kids. Many times I had plaaned to stay later at the parks, or get there earlier, but when she wanted to swim, I figured it was better for all of us to 1 either let her swim for 15 minutes then go, or 2 come back early and let her swim. If she was going to be whiney at the parks, it sure isn't fun for all of us.
Also, the plan for them to be in bed at a certain time, doesn't always work. Many evening I was trying to have us in bed around 9 or 10, and at 11 Claire was still going, playing with a new toy, or just talking. The excitement takes hold of them and sometimes it's hard to just get calmed down. But once she was down, she was REALLY down.

I'm glad he had a great birthday; it's awful having birthdays around the holidays. Mine is December 30 and my DH's is January 15. I always told my parents I wanted to celebrate mine in June because I felt I got screwed. :rotfl2:

Trip report is started and linked in my signature.

Did you know you could post them directly from facebook? That's what I do. Just go to the pic in Facebook, right click to get the pop up box, click properties, then copy the Address (URL) code, then paste that into the box that pops up after you hit the insert picture button here on the dis (make sure you erase the extra http part first though)! Hope that works for you! I don't have photobucket or anything like that so I was so excited when I realized I could just use Facebook!

Yes, you are the one that reminded me to slow down! LOL I think I am getting so excited that I forget that Gavin will indeed need down time or he will be one miserable little fellow and not enjoy anything. If when I get to posting my plans you see that I don't have enough time to rest and relax, feel free to slap me across the head and point it out to me.

Brenda's birthday is Jan 17th! So close to your Dh's. The other thing I always dread is making big party plans for her because in Central PA we could end up getting 5 feet of snow on her birthday. I was going to throw her a 1/2 birthday this past summer but by then the preschool kids from her class had all gone their own ways. So we just went to a little amusement park and had a fun day! She loved it anyway.. but I do agree, Brenda tends to get screwed with where her birthday falls. :rotfl2:

Figures! LOL I just got the pictures uploaded about 5 minutes ago. I was just coming in to start an new installment with Birthday pictures and respond to my wonderful, fabulous, awesome, loyal readers! :rotfl2: Ok, better pull up the pant legs...something is getting deep in here! :lmao: Thanks for the info though. I will know for next time! :yay:

This is where I want to take some time out of my CrAzY PTR and tell you all about Gavin's birthday... after all it was Toy Story themed so that should count, right?!? I am going to post some pictures but I didn't want to post pictures with other people's children in them. I don't know how comfortable they others would feel so I am only posting those with Brenda and Gavin..which in some ways stinks because there are some really good pictures. Here is a picture of the birthday boy right after he woke up that morning. This was before church so he was still a little sleepy...and then he remembered it was his birthday and P-A-R-T-Y day!

DSCF0024.jpg

The party was held at a local park. I really took a gamble here. When I called about reserving a pavilion for the party I was told that it would be $125 to reserve. The lady then told me that if I wanted to chance it, and there was an open pavilion it was free to use. She did tell me that she had only 1 other reservation, so far, for that day. I debated for a LONG time. I am OCD when it comes to planning things like birthday parties for the kids. So, in the end I decided it was better just to save the money and hope for the best. In this case it paid off!!! We were the only party that was there!!! We were really lucky but it was great! We set up and were just finishing as the first guests arrived. The parents and the kids all went down to the park with Jon while I stayed behind and finished all the last minute things and sent the other guests down to the park. Here are a few pictures of Brenda and Gavin at the park. They had a blast!

IMG_1515.jpg

Once most of the guests arrived everyone came back up to the pavilion. I then had 3 stations set up. One was making a Hamm bank out of those little fat water bottles. Sorry, don't have any pictures that didn't have a bunch of kids doing the craft. The other was the Ring Toss Round-up. This was a game I picked up at the party store...typical ring toss on a pole that had the Toy story characters on it. The last game was Pin the Nose on Mr Potato Head. Don't laugh! I had to draw Mr Potato Head and Jon kept forgetting to bring home a box. He looked so funny... so here is Brenda putting the nose on when everyone was finished! LOL
IMG_1637.jpg

This is Gavin just checking out things to make sure his party is going well! :rotfl2:
DSCF0064.jpg

After the 3 stations we had Pinata time!! I didn't want to have to worry about all the little kids with a stick so I stuck with the pull string one and it worked great! And I can now hang it in Gavin's room since it was not destroyed.
DSCF0076.jpg

DSCF0077.jpg

We then got together for name tag bingo. I got a bunch of Toy Story bubble wands and sunglasses on sale at the party store so we played for some cool prizes. Each child picked out a color and a character and had a name tag. I then drew out slips with them on and those kiddos got a prize. It will tell you how much fun we were having when I yelled out "Does anyone have a Pink Woody?" and the whole place couldn't stop laughing. The adults for obvious reasons and the kids becuase the adults were laughing so hard. :rotfl: :rotfl2:Brenda did win a pair of the cool sun glasses..although truth be known, everyone won something!
DSCF0103.jpg

After this it was time for singing and cake!!
Here is the cake I got at Walmart. We had to upgrade it a few days before the party because we had 26 kids and 18 adults. So glad we got a full sheet cake!
DSCF0042.jpg

We all sang Happy Birthday and then Gavin blow out the candles...with a little help from mom.
IMG_1682.jpg

DSCF0108.jpg

Then Gavin enjoyed his cake!
DSCF0111.jpg

Last, it was time for gifts. Gavin got so many cool toys that I almost wanted to have a birthday of my own... Well, ok, no woman really ever wants another birthday when they get to be my age! :rotfl2: But the gifts were cool. Here is Gavin opening one of his gifts from one of his little friends.
DSCF0134.jpg

Gavin then handed out his party favors, which were a hit, but again. No pictures. I took toilet paper tubes, filled them with TS gummies, green arm men, a TS Silly band, and some candy. I thin wrapped them with lime green and Dark blue tissue paper and twisted the ends so they kinda looked like candy. Tied off with some curling ribbon in those colors and they were super cute! I thought I had a picture but I guess I don't.

I'll leave you tonight with probably my favorite picture from the whole party... the 3 loves of my life...
IMG_1642.jpg

So...the award for the best Birthday Boy in this CrAzY family goes to my sweet little man, Gavin!

Up next.... can we just got on with this PTR already... I know you were thinking it!!!

NEVER apologize for sidestepping from your PTR. You will find a LOT of us will sidestep and talk about important events in our children's lives (I did it last year during my son's last year of wrestling in college).

I LOVE the pictures of the party--it looks like great fun. But my favorite pic is the one of the 3 loves of your life!
